HS Golf: Hurricanes sweep tri-meet with Bears, Wreckers

BARNESVILLE — Chase Maley paced a trio of Schuylkill Haven golfers in the 70s with a 6-over-par 75 as the Hurricanes swept a Schuylkill League Division II tri-meet from Mahanoy Area and Weatherly on Thursday at White Birch Golf Course.

Alan Evans carded a 78 and Eli Barton shot a 79 for Schuylkill Haven, which beat Mahanoy Area 312-337 and Weatherly 312-350. Mahanoy Area topped Weatherly 337-350 in the other portion of the tri-meet.

Elsewhere in league action Thursday, Sam Vinc’s 83 lifted Tamaqua to a 369-374 win over Lourdes, Dylan Knittle carded a 79 to help Blue Mountain top North Schuylkill 329-352 and Brayden Grant’s 83 helped Marian outlast Minersville 342-354. The Spartans’ Jude Maziekas had the lowest score of the day, shooting a 74.
