ORWIGSBURG — Drew Waschko connected for the game-winning goal in the second overtime to lift Blue Mountain over Tulpehocken on Wednesday in a non-league boys’ soccer match at the Eagles’ Nest.
Sean Gaddy assisted on Waschko’s goal for his second assist of the night.
After a scoreless first half, Brandon Youse scored off an assist by Connor Hussman to put the Trojans (5-3) ahead 1-0. Blue Mountain’s Dylan Knittle booted the equalizer unassisted before Aidan Varney, assisted by Evan Burcik and Gaddy, put the Eagles (5-2) up 2-1. Later in the second half, Hussman scored to knot the score 2-2 and send the match to overtime.
Caden Wargo made six saves for Blue Mountain.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Pottsville 5, Tamaqua 0
POTTSVILLE — Riley Davis had three goals and one assist as Pottsville shut out Tamaqua in a Schuylkill League Division I girls’ soccer match at Alumni Field.
Jes Siminitus added one goal and one assist for the Crimson Tide (4-4, 4-1 D-I). Teagan Hart netted Pottsville’s other goal.
Julie Stock (1 save) and Rose Russell (0 saves) shared the shutout in goal for Pottsville. Ceanna Gormley made 16 saves for Tamaqua (3-4, 1-4). Pottsville outshot Tamaqua 21-1.
Pine Grove 7, Marian 0
HOMETOWN — Meadow Umbenhauer scored a hat trick to lead Pine Grove past Marian in a Division I match.
Hannah Aungst added one goal and two assists for the Cardinals (3-2, 3-2 D-I), who led 3-0 at halftime. Aubrey Aungst, Gianna Pompei and Ava Voydik added single goals for Pine Grove. Kendra Umbenhauer had two assists, while Pompei and Aubrey Aungst had one each.
Alyssa Moyer earned the shutout in goal with no saves needed. Katie Knock made 25 saves for Marian (1-6, 0-5).
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Panther Valley 3, Tamaqua 1
TAMAQUA — Morgan Orsulak led the way with 21 kills, 19 assists, 17 service points, eight aces and two digs as Panther Valley rallied past Tamaqua 26-28, 25-12, 25-11, 25-14 in a Schuylkill League Division I match.
JaeLynn Browdy added 10 kills, 21 assists, three aces and four digs for the Panthers (7-0, 6-0 D-I). Caroline Breslin compiled eight kills, 12 service points and 16 digs; Jessica Hackash tallied seven kills, 16 service points, four aces and four digs; Madeline Schirer made nine digs; and Kathryn Breslin chipped in three kills, two assists, seven service points, two aces and six digs.
For Tamaqua (4-5, 1-4), Leah Black had 15 digs, four kills and two aces; Millie Black added seven blocks, 15 digs, seven kills and two aces; Madison Schock compiled 13 digs, 12 assists, four kills and three aces; and Isadora Neifers chipped in two kills and three digs.
Panther Valley won JV 2-0.
