HS Soccer: Minersville boys rally past North Schuylkill

BOYS
Minersville 3, North Schuylkill 2
MINERSVILLE — Jordan Bowers scored back-to-back goals in the second half to lead Minersville to a non-league boys’ soccer victory over North Schuylkill on Saturday.
Chase Zimerofsky, assisted by Bowers, gave the Miners (11-3) a 1-0 lead. Colton Hartman, assisted by Fabrizio Manganiello, equalized for the Spartans (5-9) as the teams went to halftime tied 1-1.
Manganiello, assisted by John Walsh, put North Schuylkill up 2-1 in the second half. Bowers then notched his two unassisted goals to give the Miners the win.
Dylan Haslam made seven saves for Minersville; Braiden Davis stopped 11 shots for North Schuylkill.
ELCO 2, Blue Mountain 1
MYERSTOWN — Blake Batory, assisted by Hayden Freed, scored for Blue Mountain, but ELCO held on for the non-league victory.
Ben Macchione’s goal gave ELCO (9-4) a 1-0 halftime lead. Jevan Marquette scored for ELCO in the second half to make it 2-0.
Caden Wargo made five saves for the Eagles (11-3); Tyce Boyer stopped four shots for ELCO.
Millville 5, Lourdes 4
SHAMOKIN — Orrin Mariano scored two goals for Lourdes in a non-league loss to Millville (11-1).
Brody Brinkash added one goal and one assist for the Red Raiders (6-7). Sam Schauer also netted one goal for Lourdes.
Nathan Yabonski made eight saves for the Red Raiders.
GIRLS
Pine Grove 1, Williams Valley 0
WILLIAMSTOWN — Kendra Umbenhauer scored the only goal of the match at 53:14 to lift Pine Grove to a non-league win over Williams Valley (5-7).
Hannah Aungst assisted on Umbenhauer’s goal.
Alyssa Moyer made four saves to post the shutout for Pine Grove (7-5-1).
Tri-Valley 2, North Schuylkill 1
HEGINS — Allie Pennypacker’s goal with about seven minutes left in the second half lifted Tri-Valley to a non-league victory over North Schuylkill.
Mia McDonald’s first-half goal gave the Spartans (5-9) a 1-0 halftime lead.
Maggie Hoffman-Long netted the equalizer for the Bulldogs (5-8) before Pennypacker converted the game-winner.
Weatherly 2, Marian 0
HOMETOWN — Katie Knock made eight saves for Marian (1-11) in a non-league loss to Weatherly (3-8).
