HS Girls’ Volleyball: Panther Valley sweeps Tamaqua to keep Division I lead

Panther Valley 3, Tamaqua 0
LANSFORD — Morgan Orsulak hit 18 kills, dished out 11 assists and made five digs to propel Panther Valley past Tamaqua 25-20, 25-12, 25-8 on Tuesday in a Schuylkill League Division I girls’ volleyball match.
With the win, Panther Valley (16-1, 12-1 D-I) maintained its one-game lead over Pottsville in the division standings with one league match remaining.
The Panthers play at Pottsville on Thursday evening.
JaeLynn Browdy had eight kills, 16 assists, 10 service points, four digs and two aces for the Panthers. Other top players for Panther Valley included Caroline Breslin with 16 digs, eight service points and two aces; Jessica Hackash with five kills; and Kathryn Breslin with four kills, two assists and seven digs.
For the Blue Raiders (10-11, 3-10), Leah Black had 15 digs and three kills; Madison Schock compiled nine assists, six digs, three kills and three aces; Millie Black notched six kills, four digs and two blocks; and Kelsey Lusch chipped in seven digs.
Panther Valley won JV 2-0.
Pottsville 3, North Schuylkill 0
FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Anna Burke posted eight kills, eight blocks and two aces to lead Pottsville past North Schuylkill 25-15, 25-10, 25-23 in Division I action.
Ava Schwartz compiled four kills, five blocks, three digs and two aces, while Maggie Brennan contributed eight kills and two digs for the Crimson Tide (13-4, 11-2 D-I).
For the Spartans (8-8, 5-8), Kyla Carado had 12 kills; Emily Walsh chipped in four kills and two blocks; and Brigid Flynn made 14 digs.
North Schuylkill won JV 2-1.
Mahanoy Area 3, Lourdes 0
MAHANOY CITY — Hailey Mroczka posted nine kills, seven digs and two aces as Mahanoy Area swept Lourdes 25-11 25-9, 25-9 in a Division I match.
Samantha Price added 21 assists and five aces, while Naomi Kowalick contributed nine kills and two aces for the Golden Bears (11-8, 5-8 D-I).
Mahanoy Area won JV 2-0.
Tri-Valley 3, Schuylkill Haven 0
HEGINS — Kenzie Tobin had 13 service points, five assists, five digs and five aces to lead Tri-Valley past Schuylkill Haven 25-7, 25-15, 25-9 in a Division II match.
Kirra Klinger added 10 service points, nine digs, four aces and four assists, while Lexi Lesher posted six kills, two solo blocks and one block assist for the Bulldogs (17-0, 13-0 D-II).
For the Hurricanes (5-12, 4-9), Lydia Hartz notched four aces and two digs; Hailey Keppley made five digs; and Grace Line added eight digs.
Tri-Valley won JV 2-0.
Marian 3, Minersville 0
HOMETOWN — Caydense Smith notched eight digs and seven aces as Marian defeated Minersville 25-16, 25-7, 25-4 in a Division II match.
Eris Hayes added 14 assists and four aces, while Alena Lombardo had six kills and three solo blocks for the Fillies (14-4, 11-2 D-II).
For the Battlin’ Miners (2-19, 2-11), Bella Cruz had eight digs and five assists; Caty Ilsley added four blocks, four digs and three kills; and Arianna John notched two kills and three blocks.
Marian won JV 2-0.
