BOYS’ SOCCER

Minersville 2, Shenandoah Valley 0

SHENANDOAH — Aidan Ryan and Shane Fessler netted one goal apiece to lead Minersville past Shenandoah Valley on Thursday in a Schuylkill League Division II boys’ soccer first-place showdown.

With the victory, the Battlin’ Miners (15-3, 8-2 D-II) clinched the division title and a bye into Tuesday’s Schuylkill League semifinals. In Saturday’s quarterfinals at Schuylkill Haven’s Rotary Field, Pine Grove will take on Tri-Valley at 1 p.m., and Shenandoah Valley (10-8, 7-3) will meet Lourdes at 3 p.m.

Dylan Haslam made three saves to preserve the shutout for Minersville. Caleb Campos stopped four shots for the Blue Devils.

Schuylkill Haven 3, Williams Valley 0

WILLIAMSTOWN — Grayson Fessler netted two goals to lift Schuylkill Haven over Williams Valley in a Division II match.

Dean Ketner added another goal for the Hurricanes (7-11, 6-4 D-II). John Ulsh assisted on Fessler’s first goal that gave Schuylkill Haven a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Elliot Wehr made eight saves to post the shutout in goal for the Hurricanes. Xzavion Tennis made 18 saves for the Vikings (2-16, 2-8).

Pottsville 8, Marian 2

POTTSVILLE — Pottsville got one goal from eight different players to top Marian in a Division I match.

William Davis, Jayden Hossler, Michael Prestileo, Beckett Teresavage, Chase Richter, Davin Bowers, Juan Moreno and Ty Karkanica tallied one goal apiece for the Crimson Tide (9-8-1, 6-6 D-I).

Edison Mitchell and Cayden Campomizzi netted one goal each for the Colts (2-16, 0-12).

Landon Trout made one save for Pottsville; Isa Gjoca stopped 30 saves for Marian.

Tri-Valley 4, Tamaqua 0

HEGINS — Nathan Hillard and Tyler Mowery scored two goals apiece as Tri-Valley defeated Tamaqua in a non-league match.

Carsyn Stiely, Dalton Leitzel, Garett Leitzel and Peyton Fenstermacher posted one assist each for the Bulldogs (12-6), who scored all of their goals in the second half.

Brayden Leese made six saves for Tri-Valley. Jakin Tamagini stopped 11 shots for the Blue Raiders (4-13).

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Pine Grove 12, Marian 0

PINE GROVE — Alyssa Moyer came out of goal to notch a hat trick as Pine Grove defeated Marian in a Division I match.

With the win, the Cardinals (8-7-3, 6-4-2 D-I) clinched a Schuylkill League playoff spot as the third-place wild card out of Division I. Pine Grove will face Division II runner-up Minersville in a quarterfinal match at 11 a.m. Saturday at Schuylkill Haven’s Rotary Field.

Meadow Umbenhauer and Gianna Pompei added two goals apiece for Pine Grove.

Katie Knock made 19 saves for Marian (2-16, 0-12).

Tri-Valley 2, Williams Valley 1

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Maggie Hoffman-Long scored two goals to lead Tri-Valley over Williams Valley in a Division II third-place wild-card tiebreaker match at Rotary Field.

With the win, the Bulldogs (9-10) clinched a Schuylkill League playoff berth and will take on Division I runner-up Pottsville at 9 a.m. Saturday at Rotary Field.

Minersville 3, Halifax 0

MINERSVILLE — Bella Rizzardi made six saves to post a clean sheet in goal as Minersville topped Halifax in a non-league match.

Emily Yoder started the scoring for the Battlin’ Miners (14-2-2) with an unassisted goal at 14:45. Hope Motuk, assisted by Jenna Cullen, doubled the lead at 17:01, and Minersville took that 2-0 lead to halftime.

Danica Gill connected at 47:03 off an assist from Kloee Horoschak to make it 3-0.

Isabella Bender made 16 saves for Halifax (4-13).

Schuylkill Haven 6, Shenandoah Valley 0

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Taylor Haag tallied three goals and one assist as Schuylkill Haven cruised past Shenandoah Valley in a non-league match.

Kylie Siket added one goal and three assists for the Hurricanes (13-4-1). Audrey Hutchinson notched one goal and one assist; Bella Murphy scored one goal; and Aubrey Wade picked up an assist.

Ally Becker made one save to notch the shutout in goal for Schuylkill Haven. Emilee Pinkey stopped 18 shots for the Blue Devils (5-10-1).
