FACTORYVILLE — For one quarter, Tri-Valley battled Lackawanna Trail toe-to-toe in the District 2/11 Class A subregional championship game Friday night.

Unfortunately for the Dawgs, they couldn’t stop Isaac Ryon.

Ryon rushed for 319 yards and five touchdowns as Lackawanna Trail downed Tri-Valley 41-14. The victory advances Lackawanna Trail (11-1) to the opening round of the PIAA playoffs where it will face District 4 champion Line Mountain (11-0) next weekend.

District 11 champion Tri-Valley’s season ends at 7-5.

The Lions and Dawgs traded touchdowns in the opening stanza, with Ryon scoring on runs of 74 and 55 yards and Tri-Valley answering with a 5-yard run by Cole Gemberling and a 9-yard run by Trey Porter.

Tyler Jervis put Lackawanna Trail ahead for good with a 13-yard run in the second quarter. The Lions went up 28-14 at halftime on a 10-yard run by Ryon.

Ryon’s final two touchdowns came on runs of 11 and 1 yards in the second half as Lackawanna Trail kept Tri-Valley off the scoreboard over the final three quarters.

It was the second straight year the teams met in the subregional championship game, with Lackawanna Trail winning 42-0 last season.
