HS Girls’ Hoops Roundup: Lourdes notches 3rd win in 3 days with rout of Wreckers

SHAMOKIN — Three games in three consecutive days can be a tough grind for a high school basketball team.

Not the Lourdes’ girls’ squad.

The Red Raiders registered their third blowout win in as many days Thursday, dominating Weatherly 64-17 in a Schuylkill League Division II contest at the Lee Korbich Gymnasium.

Lourdes opened the week Tuesday with a 53-20 win over Mahanoy Area in a battle of Division II unbeatens, then rolled past Nativity 60-11 and Weatherly the next two nights.

Thursday marked the eighth time in 12 games that Lourdes held its opponent to 20 points or less. Thursday’s win was the Red Raiders’ fifth straight, keeping Lourdes (11-1, 7-0 D-II) unbeaten in Division II play.

Kylla Sandri has paced the Red Raiders’ offense all three games. She tallied a game-high 19 points Thursday after scoring 16 points Tuesday and 18 more Wednesday.

Sophia Karlovich added 12 for Lourdes, which led 16-4 after one quarter and 42-10 at intermission.

Mount Carmel 57, Marian 51

MOUNT CARMEL — Addy Marek paced a trio of double-digit scorers with 20 points as the Fillies dropped a non-league game to the Red Tornadoes.

DeAnna Pugh added 17 points and Katie Knock had 12 for Marian, which connected on 10 3-pointers. The Fillies fell behind 20-11 after one frame and was chasing the rest of the way, making things interesting with a 19-13 advantage in the third quarter.

Raina Paulson led all scorers with 21 points for Mount Carmel, while Hannah Fourspring netted 17 and Samantha Siegrist added 13.

ALLENTOWN — The Golden Bears scored just 11 points in the first half and never recovered, dropping a non-league game to the Raptors.

In a game that could be a District 11 Class 3A playoff preview, Executive Education built a 14-5 lead after one frame and led 25-11 at halftime.

Felicia Bro led the Bears with 19 points.
