POTTSVILLE — The pairings are set.

Tournament organizers released the seeds for the Schuylkill League Wrestling Championships late Wednesday and several trends emerged.

While North Schuylkill was the only team to enter a full 13-wrestler lineup last season, Blue Mountain, Mahanoy Area, North Schuylkill, Pine Grove and Tri-Valley have full lineups this season. Pottsville and Schuylkill Haven are entering 11 wrestlers apiece; Panther Valley and Tamaqua bring eight each with seven from Williams Valley.

In all, the number of entrants is up from last season.

Tri-Valley leads the way with four No. 1 seeds: Owen Wolfgang (107), Jaxson Bruso (133), Hunter Updegrave (172) and Max Masser (189).

Williams Valley and Mahanoy Area have three top seeds apiece. For the Vikings, Magnus Monger (121), Xzavion Tennis (139) and Camron Green (285) lead their respective brackets. Arturo Reyes (127), Rory Dixon (152) and Kyler Quick (215) are No. 1 seeds for the Golden Bears.

Blue Mountain’s Owen Woll (160), Pine Grove’s Aaron Osatchuck (145) and Tamaqua’s Rylan Reitz (114) are the other No. 1 seeds.

Pottsville’s Terrell McFarland, seeded second at 189, will be looking to win his fourth straight league championship.

Action will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Pottsville’s Martz Hall with the preliminaries, followed by the championship quarterfinals at 9:45 a.m. The second-round consolations and semifinals will start at 11 a.m., with the third round of consolations at noon and the fourth round of consolations at 12:30 p.m. The championship finals and bouts for third and fifth places will be contested on three mats starting at 2:30 p.m.

The Schuylkill League Junior Varsity Wrestling Tournament will be held concurrently starting at 9 a.m. and continuing until completion.
