Blue Mountain storms past Schuylkill Haven to clinch crown

ORWIGSBURG — It was a night to celebrate Thursday for the Blue Mountain boys’ swimming program.

For the second time this season, a Blue Mountain boys’ swimmer added his name to the prestigious list of 1,000-point scorers as Liam Magdeburg reached the milestone with a pair of individual wins.

The senior won the 200-yard freestyle and 500 freestyle, helping the Eagles to a 130-36 victory over Schuylkill Haven at the Glen Belmont Natatorium.

The win gave Blue Mountain (12-1, 10-0 SL) its eighth straight Schuylkill League boys’ swimming dual-meet championship.

Magdeburg joined fellow senior Gabe Kamarousky in the 1,000-point club. Kamarousky added a win against the Hurricanes, touching first in the 50 freestyle.

Brody Moyer (200 IM, 100 fly) won twice, while Kevin Frederick (diving) and Evan Varney (100 back) added wins for Blue Mountain, which took 10 of the 12 events.

Ethan Miller (100 free, 100 breast) was a double-winner for Schuylkill Haven (6-7, 5-5).
