HS Softball: Schuylkill Haven edges Tamaqua, 1-0

TAMAQUA — Grace Line pitched a two-hit shutout Thursday to lead Schuylkill Haven to a 1-0 victory over Tamaqua in a non-league softball game.

Line struck out five and walked none in her complete-game effort. She needed just 74 pitches (55 strikes) and got error-free defense behind her. The Hurricanes helped their pitcher by turning a double play.

Scoreless into the sixth inning, Ally Becker’s single to right field drove in Teagan Wehr with the only run of the game.

Kaitlyn Russo went 2-for-4 for the Hurricanes, while Emmie Scherer singled and stole two bases.

Naomi Knitter took the loss, allowing one run in five-plus innings. She struck out seven and walked one. Peyton Faust struck out three and walked none in two innings of relief for the Blue Raiders.

Shenandoah Valley 25, Notre Dame-ES 5

EAST STROUDSBURG — Morgan Labosky went 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, four runs scored and nine RBIs to power Shenandoah Valley past Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg in a non-league game.

Katrina McNulty went 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, five runs scored and one RBI for the Blue Devils, who scored 12 runs in the first inning.

Winning pitcher Zoey Zulkowski went 1-for-1 with three runs and three RBIs for Shenandoah Valley. In addition, Brynn Burke had a single, two runs and four RBIs, and Aubrie Monaghan added four runs and three stolen bases.
