HS Softball: Pottsville outslugs Mahanoy Area

POTTSVILLE — Winning pitcher Peyton Eckert struck out 10 and hit a solo home run to lead Pottsville to a 10-5 victory over Mahanoy Area on Monday in a Schuylkill League Division I softball game at the CACL Complex.

Megan Yost went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs for the Crimson Tide. Other top hitters for Pottsville included Aubrey Scanlan, 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs; and Lana Cromyak, 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

For Mahanoy Area, Hailey Mroczka went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and an RBI. Naomi Kowalick finished 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI.

MOUNT CARMEL — Emily Leonard pitched a three-inning perfect game with seven strikeouts as Blue Mountain defeated Lourdes in a Division I game.

Addyson Fishburn sparked the offense by going 4-for-4 with four runs scored and two RBIs. Emmerson Frie added a 3-for-4 day with a double and six RBIs. Other top hitters for the Eagles included Avery Hudock, 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored; Courtney Cavadini, 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs; and Karley Koch, 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Macie Rushannon went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs, while Anna Jansson finished 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs and one RBI for Nativity.

Lauren Clark added a 2-for-5 day with a triple, two runs and one RBI.

For Weatherly, Ava Sahaida went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs; Maddy Rhodes went 3-for-5 with three runs; and Abby Weston hit a solo home run.
