Dante Carr found the right fit for him.

For Minersville’s multi-talented quarterback, that fit is to play NCAA Division I college football at the University of Central Florida. The deciding factor for Carr was the opportunity to learn under head coach Scott Frost.

Known for his ability to develop quarterbacks, Frost has coached at big-time programs like the University of Oregon, Nebraska and in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams.

Carr, who chose from 11 Division I offers, is gearing up for his senior season with the Battlin’ Miners. After that, the 6-foot-4, 225-pound Carr has plans to graduate from high school early and enroll in January at UCF.

A four-sport star, Carr played football, basketball, baseball and track for the Miners. He became a 1,000-point scorer in basketball last winter. In the spring, Carr qualified for the PIAA Track and Field Championships in the 400-meter relay and the high jump.

Carr’s signing with UCF capped a whirlwind recruiting process and gave the area yet another big-time Division I football prospect.
