District 11 Class AA rivals Schuylkill Haven and Williams Valley were among the teams listed in the preseason Pennsylvania State Football Rankings released Monday by PennLive.com.

The Hurricanes were ranked second in Class AA behind 2024 state runner-up Seton-LaSalle. The two-time defending Vikings were at No. 7 in Class AA after going 12-2 last season.

Riverside, defending state champion Troy, Farrell and South Park filled the 3-6 spots, with Southern Columbia, Steel-High and Lancaster Catholic at numbers 8-10.

Schuylkill Haven and Williams Valley were the only two Schuylkill League schools to make the preseason poll, which is compiled by Eric Epler of PennLive.com. There are some familiar names to local fans in the poll, however.

Defending state champion Northwestern Lehigh is No. 1 in the Class 3A poll after going 16-0 last season. Notre Dame-Green Pond is at No. 4 and Mount Carmel is at No. 6 in the Class 3A rankings.

In Class 4A, Southern Lehigh is at No. 2 behind Bonner-Prendergast after going 12-3 and reaching the state semifinals a year ago. Pottsville’s Week 1 opponent, Shamokin, is in the Class 4A poll at No. 7.
