EXETER TWP. — The Blue Mountain boys’ and girls’ track teams opened their seasons Wednesday, dropping non-league contests to Exeter Township.

Exeter won the girls’ contest 81-65 while winning the boys’ meet 90-60.

Sophia Spolski won a pair of races, taking first in the 100- and 200-meter runs. Vanessa Frasnelli (1600) and Brielly Lazur (100 hurdles) added wins on the track.

Blue Mountain excelled in the field, winning four of seven events. Sophomore Evangelina Fisher took first in the high jump, Aniera Perry placed first in the shot put, Sophia Woll won the discus and Kendall Koch captured the javelin and was second in the shot put.

Chase Guers and Rafael Liranzo picked up where they left off last year with strong starts in the Eagles’ non-league loss to Exeter Township.

Guers won the 100 and triple jump, while Liranzo swept the hurdles. Exeter dominated on the track, winning five of eight events and two relays.

In the field, William Shaner heaved the javelin 180 feet, 10 inches to take first place, while Noah Lechleitner cleared 11-6 to win the pole vault.
