Local Roundup: Spartans, Miners, Devils boys, Tide girls earn victories on the pitch

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Wesley Urban and Fabrizio Manganiello scored goals as North Schuylkill shut out Lourdes 2-0 in a Schuylkill League Division I boys’ soccer match Wednesday at Ghosh Orthodontics Field at Spartan Stadium.
Urban scored an unassisted goal in the 17th minute, while Manganiello converted an assist by Aaron Brayford in the 21st minute.
Braiden Davis stopped all seven Lourdes shots to pitch the shutout in goal for North Schuylkill.
Blue Mountain 8, Tamaqua 0
TAMAMQUA — Blake Batory and Drew Waschko scored three goals apiece in Blue Mountain’s Division I win over Tamaqua.
Dylan Knittle and Saul Recinos netted one goal apiece, while Rob Bowitz dished out two assists.
Caden Wargo made two saves to record the shutout in goal.
Minersville 5, Williams Valley 2
MINERSVILLE — Cam Rodgers scored a pair of goals as the Miners used a big first half to down the Vikings in a Division II match.
Shane Fessler, MacKaiden Sinko and Chase Zimerofsky also tallied goals for Minersville, which scored all of its goals in the first half. Robert McGrath notched eight saves in the net to pick up the win.
John Rautzhan had a goal and an assist for Williams Valley, while Collin Berger also found the back of the net for the Vikes. Xzavion Tennis made 20 saves in net in a losing effort for the Vikings.
Shenandoah Valley 4, Schuylkill Haven 1
SHENANDOAH — L.J. Ulsh gave the Hurricanes an early 1-0 lead with a first-half goal, but the Blue Devils followed with four straight goals to capture the Schuylkill League Division II victory.
Antonio Ruiz and Carlos Meza each had a goal and an assist for Shenandoah Valley, while Anders Ryon and Armando Porfirio tallied goals. The Blue Devils used goals by Ruiz and Ryon to build a 2-1 halftime lead, then Porfirio and Meza iced the victory with second-half goals.
Shenandoah Valley outshot Haven 12-6, with the Devils’ Dariel Feliciano making five saves and the Hurricanes’ Elliot Wehr stopping eight shots.
Girls’ Soccer
Pottsville 6, Shenandoah Valley 0
POTTSVILLE — Emma Quirin-Morris and Riley Davis each scored two goals and had an assist as the Tide rolled past the Blue Devils in a Division I contest at Alumni Field.
Megan Goodman also scored for Pottsville, which outshot Shenandoah Valley 35-1. Rose Russell and Lucy Dougherty teamed to gain the shutout in goal.

SHAMOKIN — Dakota Boehmer had five aces, five kills and two blocks as the Red Raiders swept the Miners 25-13, 25-19, 25-14.
Margo Yablonski added three aces and four assists for Lourdes, while Bella Cherry had four aces and five digs.
Arianna John led the Miners with four assists, two kills and four digs, while Caty Ilsley had three kills and Aliyah Webster notched two kills.
Lourdes won JV 2-0.
Middle School Volleyball
Panther Valley 3, Pottsville 0
POTTSVILLE — Panther Valley played its first ever middle school volleyball game Wednesday, beating Pottsville 25-19, 18-25, 18-16.
Ellian John had nine service points, Karlee Honshiko tallied six service points and two aces and Lucy Uher had six service points and one ace for Panther Valley.
