HS Volleyball: Yost, Brennan lead Tide past Eagles

POTTSVILLE — Megan Yost paced the offense with 34 assists and 17 digs as Pottsville swept Blue Mountain 26-24, 25-18, 25-17 in a Schuylkill League Division I girls’ volleyball match Thursday night.
Maggie Brennan compiled nine kills and five blocks for the Tide, while Rhyan Brennan collected eight digs, six kills and five blocks.
Zoe Leibensperger led the Blue Mountain attack with eight kills while Bella Grasso dished out 25 assists and Tess Keanu had 21 digs.
Pottsville won JV 2-0.
Marian 3, Nativity 0
HOMETOWN — Eris Hayes paced a balanced effort with four kills, 10 assists and 14 digs as the Fillies swept the Golden Girls 25-14, 25-7, 25-17.
Lara Cancio added seven kills; Maddy Davis tallied four kills, six aces and two digs; and Joelle Currie collected 12 assists, five aces and four digs for Marian.
Madison Purcell led Nativity with four kills, while Amara Miller had seven digs and Addison Richard compiled nine assists and four digs.
Marian won JV 2-0.
Panther Valley 3, Mahanoy Area 0
LANSFORD — Morgan Orsulak achieved a pair of personal milestones as the Panthers swept the Golden Bears 26-24, 25-18, 25-13.
Orsulak compiled 27 kills, 18 assists, five service points, three aces and two digs for Panther Valley, recording her 500th career kill and setting the school record for career assists with 1,158.
Jaelynn Browdy added 11 kills, 20 assists and 15 service points for Panther Valley, while Jessica Hackash tallied seven kills and Caroline Breslin had 16 digs.
Panther Valley won JV 2-1.
Pine Grove 3, North Schuylkill 1
PINE GROVE — Lily Flynn notched 10 kills and had five aces as the Cardinals downed the Spartans 25-19, 23-25, 25-23, 25-21 in a Division I match.
Payton Harris tallied 17 assists, seven kills and three aces for Pine Grove, while Grayclin Griffiths collected six kills, seven digs and four aces.
Kyla Carado paced North Schuylkill with 12 kills and two aces, while Brigid Flynn had 17 digs and five kills and Lyza Holmes compiled 14 digs and two aces.
Pine Grove won JV 2-0.
Tri-Valley 3, Shenandoah Valley 0
HEGINS — Faith Melocheck notched 16 kills as the Dawgs cruised past the Blue Devils 25-6, 25-3, 25-10.
Callie Melocheck added 21 assists, 15 service points and three aces, while Aubrianna Zimmerman had five aces and two kills and Kirra Klinger collected 13 service points and five aces.
Rachel Sekula had six digs and Danna Chagolla three digs for the Devils.
Tri-Valley won JV 2-0.
Minersville 3, Weatherly 1
WEATHERLY — Arianna John collected nine aces and 11 kills as the Miners beat the Wreckers 25-21, 20-25, 25-21, 25-19 in a Division II match.
Bella Cruz tallied four aces and 19 assists for Minersville, while Arielle Boyer compiled four aces and two kills.
Abby Weston had eight service points and 31 assists for Weatherly, while Abigail Binder had five kills and 12 digs and Kelly Reiner compiled four service points, three kills and 10 digs.
Williams Valley 3, Schuylkill Haven 1
TOWER CITY — Hayley Fenlason had eight kills to pace the Vikings to a 25-21, 25-14, 20-25, 25-21 victory over the Hurricanes.
Emily Miller added six service points, six aces and 18 digs; Gabrielle Duprez added four kills and three digs; Naomi Carl collected three service points, nine aces and four digs; and Emma Reinoehl had two kills, 19 assists and two digs for Williams Valley.
Grace Line had 27 digs and Lydia Hartz dished out 17 assists for Schuylkill Haven.
Williams Valley won JV 2-1.
Tamaqua 3, Lourdes 0
TAMAQUA — Millie Black and Madison Schock reached career milestones as Tamaqua defeated Lourdes 25-9, 25-21, 25-18 in a Division I match.
Black scored her 100th kill, finishing the night with nine kills, eight digs and seven aces. Schock notched her 300th assist, contributing 12 assists, four kills, four aces, eight digs and two blocks against Lourdes.
Isadora Neifert added four kills, and Leah Black tallied four aces, four kills and three digs.
For Lourdes, Bella Hudick had five aces and three digs; Sophia Padula notched three aces, four assists and two digs; and Dakota Boehmer chipped in three aces and two digs.
