HS Volleyball: Orsulak’s big night leads Panthers to victory over Cardinals

LANSFORD — Morgan Orsulak put together a dominating performance Tuesday night in Panther Valley’s volleyball home opener.

The senior registered a whopping 26 kills, had nine assists and six service points as the Panthers swept past Pine Grove 25-13, 25-15, 25-15 in a clash of Schuylkill League Division I unbeatens.

It was the second straight impressive performance for Orsulak, who recorded her 500th career kill and broke the school record for assists in the Panthers’ win Thursday at Mahanoy Area (See photo below).

JaeLynn Browdy added five kills, dished out 20 assists and had 17 service points, four aces and six digs for Panther Valley (4-0, 3-0 D-I). Caroline Breslin contributed 11 service points, four aces and 15 digs.

Lily Flynn had eight kills, Kamryn Henning tallied three kills and Payton Harris compiled two kills, 10 assists and two digs for Pine Grove (2-1, 2-1).

Panther Valley won JV 2-0.

Tri-Valley 3, Nativity 0

POTTSVILLE — Liv Lupole collected 10 kills and two aces as the Dawgs stayed unbeaten with a 25-18, 25-20, 25-15 win over the Green Wave in Division II action atop Lawton’s Hill.

Kylie Clemmer added seven aces and four digs for Tri-Valley (3-0, 3-0 D-II), while Faith Melocheck had five kills and four digs.

Morgan Howell paced Nativity with 12 digs and two aces, while Amara Miller had eight digs and four assists and Finley McNamara compiled four kills, four digs and two blocks.

Tri-Valley won JV 2-0.

Pottsville 3, Lourdes 0

SHAMOKIN — Rhyan Brennan served 18 aces, had six kills and three digs as the Tide rolled past the Red Raiders 25-4, 25-1, 25-10 in a Division I contest.

Ava Duffy added five aces while Kaleya Reed notched five kills for Pottsville (3-2, 3-0).

Bella Cherry had five digs, Bella Hudick three digs and Sophia Padulla had one kill for Lourdes (1-4, 0-3).

Pottsville won JV 2-0

Blue Mountain 3, Tamaqua 0

ORWIGSBURG — Jaedyn Bartholomew led the way with nine kills, five aces and seven digs as the Eagles flew past the Blue Raiders 25-13, 25-18, 25-12 in a Division I match.

Zoe Leibensperger collected seven kills, seven aces, three digs and three blocks for Blue Mountain (3-1, 2-1), while Bella Grasso dished out 23 assists and had five digs.

Millie Black compiled seven blocks, five kills and 11 digs for Tamaqua (2-2, 1-2), while Madison Schock had three kills, 12 assists and seven digs; and Isadora Neifert notched five kills.

Blue Mountain won JV 2-0.

Mahanoy Area 3, North Schuylkill 1

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — The Golden Bears (2-2, 1-2) earned their first Division I victory by outlasting the Spartans 25-21, 25-18, 17-25, 25-12.

For North Schuylkill (0-3, 0-3), Kyla Carado had eight kills, Lauren Powis tallied seven kills and Emily Walsh collected five blocks.

Mahanoy won JV 2-0

Marian 3, Shenandoah Valley 0

HOMETOWN — Kali Grochowski compiled nine kills, two aces and 11 digs as the Fillies topped the Blue Devils 25-15, 25-8, 25-7 in a Division II contest.

Eris Hayes collected five kills, seven assists and three digs for Marian (2-1, 2-1), while Joelle Curne directed the offense with 18 assists and three aces.

Valeria Hernandez led Shenandoah Valley (1-4, 0-3) with six digs, while Giana Troutman had five service points and Ava Antz collected three digs.

Marian won JV 2-0.

Schuylkill Haven 3, Weatherly 0

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Hannah Nelson notched nine kills and tallied six aces as the Hurricanes swept the Wreckers 25-14, 25-18, 25-8 in a Division II match.

Hailey Keppley added seven kills and three digs for Schuylkill Haven (2-1, 2-1), while Lydia Hartz directed the offense with 19 assists and had three aces.

Abby Binder recorded eight kills and 10 digs for Weatherly (0-4, 0-3), while Kelly Reiner had two points, two blocks and seven digs; and Abby Weston served six points and had five aces.

Williams Valley 3, Minersville 0

MINERSVILLE — Emma Reinoehl compiled 11 assists, seven service points, six aces and three digs as the Vikings remained unbeaten with a 25-11, 25-14, 25-19 win over the Miners.

Gabrielle Duprez added three kills, two blocks, three service points, two aces and three digs for Williams Valley (3-0, 3-0), while Emily Miller had 10 digs, three aces and two service points.

Caty Ilsley had two kills, Arianna John had two aces and Bella Cruz dished out six assists for Minersville (1-3, 1-2).

Williams Valley won JV 2-0.
