SHENANDOAH — Schuylkill Haven did what it does best — move the ball, control the clock and shut down teams.

The Hurricanes’ defense, combined with seven different offensive players scoring touchdowns, powered Schuylkill Haven to a dominant 54-6 victory over Shenandoah Valley in a Schuylkill-Colonial Blue Division game Friday night at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Until Shenandoah Valley’s Niko White ripped off a 65-yard touchdown run with 59 seconds left in the fourth quarter, the Hurricanes had held the Blue Devils to minus-3 yards of offense.

Despite outscoring opponents 108-6 over the last two weeks, Haven coach Mike Farr continues to stress focus.

“We worry about ourselves, we don’t really worry about who our opponent is,” Farr said. “We stay focused on us, and manage the game on Friday.”

Farr also took time to praise his team’s energy.

“I was happy with our effort. I thought we came out a lot better than PV, had a lot more energy,” Farr said. “We’ll be back in the weight room Sunday and then go back at it for another week.”

The Hurricanes (3-0, 2-0 Blue) struck first when Niko Castillo scored on a 5-yard sweep. Later in the first quarter, Max Heim connected with Niko Carestia on a 38-yard screen pass. Colton Reber added both a rushing and receiving touchdown before Chase Williams’ 5-yard run capped Haven’s 36-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, Schuylkill Haven added three more scores: Logan Goad on a 20-yard run, Bradyn Diehl from 18 yards out and Carter Williams on a 20-yard run.

Shenandoah Valley (0-3, 0-2) managed just 62 yards of total offense, with the lone highlight before White’s late score coming on a 30-yard reception by Gene Sinkus in the second quarter.

Schuylkill Haven hosts Mahanoy Area next Friday in its home opener. Shenandoah Valley visits Marian.
