HS Boys’ Soccer: Minersville cruises by Williams Valley

Minersville 9, Williams Valley 3
WILLIAMSTOWN — Chase Zimerofsky scored three goals and Jack Purcell netted two goals to power Minersville past Williams Valley on Tuesday in a Schuylkill League Division II soccer match.
Zach Seddon, Alejandro Richard, Dylan Blood and Shane Fessler scored one goal apiece for the Battlin’ Miners (10-3, 5-2 D-II), who led 4-1 at halftime. Camden Rogers picked up three assists, and Jordan Bowers assisted on two for Minersville. Zimerofsky and Seddon added one assist apiece.
John Rautzahn scored two goals and Collin Berger notched one goal for the Vikings (2-11, 2-5).
Dylan Haslam (7 saves) and Robert McGrath (1 save) played in goal for Minersville. Xzavion Tennis stopped 25 shots for Williams Valley.
Blue Mountain 5, Tamaqua 0
ORWIGSBURG — Drew Waschko notched two goals and one assist as Blue Mountain cruised past Tamaqua in a Division I mach at the Eagles’ Nest.
Blake Batory added one goal and one assist, while Donnie Moyer assisted on two goals for the Eagles (10-2, 7-0 D-I). Keenan Hall and Aidan Varney had one goal each for Blue Mountain; Hayden Freed picked up one assist.
Caden Wargo made four saves for the shutout in goal; Jakin Tamagini stopped 12 shots for the Blue Raiders (2-9, 2-6).
Blue Mountain won the JV match 4-0.
Lourdes 4, North Schuylkill 0
SHAMOKIN — Orrin Mariano scored a natural hat trick — three straight goals — to lead Lourdes past North Schuylkill in a Division I match.
Majed Kanafani had the other goal for the Red Raiders (6-6, 4-4 D-I). Kanafani also assisted on Mariano’s first goal that gave Lourdes a 1-0 halftime lead.
Josh Miller tallied assists on Mariano’s other two goals.
Nathan Yablonski made three saves for the Red Raiders; Braiden Davis stopped two shots for the Spartans (5-7, 3-5).
In other matches, Shenandoah Valley shut out Schuylkill Haven 2-0, and the Pine Grove at Marian match was suspended due to inclement weather. The match will be completed at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Marian.
