HS Girls’ Volleyball: Pottsville beats rival Blue Mountain

Pottsville 3, Blue Mountain 1
ORWIGSBURG — Ava Schwartz scored 16 kills, 11 digs, eight blocks and two aces to lead Pottsville past Blue Mountain 10-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-15 on Tuesday in a Schuylkill League Division I girls’ volleyball match.
Megan Yost added 39 assists, 17 digs, four kills and two aces, while Cat Mohl made 11 digs for the Crimson Tide (8-4, 7-2 D-I). With the win, Pottsville took over sole possession of second place in the division standings.
Jaedyn Bartholmew led the Eagles (9-3, 6-3) with 23 kills, 28 digs and four blocks. Bella Grasso added 44 assists and 12 digs; Tess Krasnay made 33 digs and four assists; and Alexa Marshall notched 19 digs, nine kills and three aces for Blue Mountain.
Blue Mountain won JV 2-0.
Marian 3, Nativity 0
POTTSVILLE — Alena Lombardo had eight kills and two digs as Marian topped Nativity 25-18, 25-14, 25-17 in a Division II match.
Isabella Horvat notched nine digs, seven kills and one ace, and Kali Grochowski compiled six digs, five kills and three aces for the Fillies (8-3, 7-2 D-II).
For Nativity (7-5, 6-3), Lily Baran had three kills and two blocks; Finley McNamara posted four kills, three digs and three blocks; Janelle Ziegmont chipped in five digs and four kills; and Morgan Howell made nine digs.
Nativity won JV 2-1.
Tri-Valley 3, Shenandoah Valley 0
SHENANDOAH — Brielle Smith compiled 11 service points and four aces as Tri-Valley defeated Shenandoah Valley 25-7, 25-9, 25-9 in Division II action.
Lexi Lesher added five kills, while Emma Moore tallied four kills and two blocks for the Bulldogs (12-0, 9-0 D-II), who are still ranked No. 1 in the state in Class A in the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
For Shenandoah Valley (4-7, 3-6), Jocelyn Chagolla had four digs and two assists; Brittany Tufts chipped in four digs and two assists; and Aubrie Monaghan earned five digs and three service points.
Tri-Valley won JV 2-0.
Panther Valley 3, Mahanoy Area 0
LANSFORD — Morgan Orsulak slammed 27 kills with seven assists, five digs and two aces to power Panther Valley past Mahanoy Area 25-17, 15-15, 25-14 in a Division I match.
JaeLynn Browdy added 26 assists, 12 digs and four kills for the Panthers (10-0, 9-0 D-I), who maintained their lead in the division standings. Caroline Breslin compiled 14 service points, seven kills, seven digs and two aces, while Madeline Schirer contributed 10 digs, three kills and two assists for Panther Valley.
Mahanoy Area won JV 2-0.
North Schuylkill 3, Pine Grove 0
FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Kyla Carado had 11 kills and eight blocks to lead North Schuylkill past Pine Grove 25-23, 25-11, 25-17 in a Division I match.
Brigid Flynn added 11 digs, three kills and two aces, while Lauren Powis posted 14 digs, three kills and two aces for the Spartans (3-6, 3-6 D-I). Other top players for North Schuylkill included Carrah Hill with seven digs and two aces; Lyza Holmes with seven digs; Emily Walsh with three kills; Carissa Ossman with three digs; and Raven Marlow with 18 assists and two kills.
For Pine Grove (7-6, 5-4), Molly Drumheller had 16 digs and three assists; Kamryn Hening contributed six kills, three blocks and two digs; and Payton Harris earned 11 assists, three kills, two aces and two digs.
Pine Grove won JV 2-0.
Tamaqua 3, Lourdes 0
SHAMOKIN — Madison Schock had 13 assists, six digs and two aces as Tamaqua swept Lourdes 25-14, 25-12, 25-7 in a Division I match.
Isadora Neifert added five kills, while Leah Black made 12 digs and four kills for the Blue Raiders (7-7, 2-7 D-I).
For Lourdes (1-13, 0-9), Bella Cherry (9 digs), Katie Bobkoski (8 digs) and Bella Hudick (4 digs) led the way.
Tamaqua won JV 2-0.
Minersville 3, Weatherly 1
MINERSVILLE — Arianna John’s 10 aces and six kills sparked Minersville to a 25-9, 25-22, 22-25, 25-17 win over Weatherly in a Division II match.
Bella Cruz added 15 assists, seven aces and two kills, while Isabella Balance amassed five aces, five kills, three assists and two digs for the Battlin’ Miners (2-12, 2-6 D-II).
For Weatherly (1-11, 0-9), Kendra Moyer notched six service points and seven digs; Abby Weston made 15 assists and three service points; and Mya Binder had eight service points, five digs and three aces.
Williams Valley 3, Schuylkill Haven 1
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Roxanne Machamer had six kills and four digs as Williams Valley rallied past Schuylkill Haven 19-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-10 in a Division II match.
Gabriella Duprez added seven kills, four aces and 15 digs, while Emily Miller made two kills, three aces and 28 digs for the Vikings (6-4, 6-3 D-II).
For the Hurricanes (3-8, 2-6), Lydia Hartz had 12 assists and five digs; Hailey Keppley notched four kills and 10 digs; and Grace Line posted two aces and 13 digs.
Schuylkill Haven won JV 2-1.
