GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Pottsville 3, Whitehall 0

WHITEHALL — Rhyan Brennan racked up 14 digs, four aces and three kills as Pottsville swept Whitehall 25-21, 25-20, 25-19 on Saturday in a non-league girls’ volleyball match.

Ava Schwartz added six kills, two digs, one block and one ace, while Anna Burke tallied eight kills, six blocks, two digs and two aces for the Crimson Tide (10-4).

Whitehall (5-11) won JV 2-0.

Shenandoah Valley 3, Tamaqua 1

SHENANDOAH — Brittany Tufts compiled 13 service points, six aces, 16 digs, 11 assists and three kills to lead Shenandoah Valley past Tamaqua 25-23, 22-25, 25-17, 25-23 in non-league action,

Other top players for the Blue Devils (5-8) included Ava Antz with six kills, two digs, nine aces four blocks and 15 service points; and Danna Chagolla with nine kills, two assists, three digs, two aces, four blocks and four service points.

Leah Black led Tamaqua (7-9) with 12 kills, 12 digs and three aces. Madison Schock added 23 assists, 18 digs, three kills and two aces; Kendall Miller chipped in 10 digs and six kills.

Shenandoah Valley won JV 2-0.

Upper Dauphin 3, Williams Valley 0

TOWER CITY — Emma Reinoehl had five assists, four digs, two kills and one ace for Williams Valley in a 25-11, 25-10, 25-17 non-league loss to Upper Dauphin (9-3).

Naomi Carl posted seven digs, three aces and one kill, while Hayley Fenlason chipped in four blocks and one kill for the Vikings (7-5).

Upper Dauphin won JV 2-0,

North Schuylkill 3, Northampton 0

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Brigid Flynn posted 22 digs and six kills to lead North Schuylkill past Northampton 25-22, 26-24, 25-19 in a non-league match.

Kyla Carado added eight kills, four blocks and three aces, while Lauren Powis contributed seven digs and four aces for the Spartans (5-6). Other top players for North Schuylkill included Carah Hill with five digs; Lyza Holmes with six digs; Emily Walsh with four kills; Carissa Ossman with eight digs and two aces; and Raven Marlow with 15 assists, eight digs, two kills and two aces.

Northampton’s record dropped to 6-7.

Elston leads locals at NEPA

BLOOMSBURG — Tamaqua’s Aidan Elston placed 22nd in 17:15 at the NEPA Invitational at Bloomsburg University.

Northwest Area’s Michael Fritz won the race in 15:54 among a field of 283 runners.

Tamaqua finished 15th in a field of 29 teams. Riverside won the team title.

BLOOMSBURG — North Schuylkill’s Genevieve Dando ran 20:25 to finish eighth in a field of 174 at the NEPA Invitational at Bloomsburg University.

Warrior Run’s Claire Dufrene won the race in 18:26.

Tamaqua’s Shaylee Gormley placed 21st in 21:35, helping the Blue Raiders finish seventh among 20 teams. Danville took the team title.
