Panther Valley 3, Marian 2

HOMETOWN — Morgan Orsulak piled up 24 kills, 17 assists, four service points, three aces and two digs to power Panther Valley to a 20-25, 25-22, 26-24, 10-25, 15-3 victory over Marian on Monday in a non-league girls’ volleyball match.

JaeLynn Browdy racked up 11 kills, 20 assists, 15 service points, nine digs and four aces for the Panthers (12-0). Other top players for Panther Valley included Caroline Breslin with four kills, nine service points and 10 digs; Jessica Hackash with six kills, two blocks, two service points and three digs; Madeline Schirer with 14 service points and six digs; and Kathryn Breslin with 10 digs, seven service points, three kills and three assists.

For Marian (11-4), Alena Lombardo had 15 kills and three solo blocks; Isabella Horvat added seven kills, nine aces and seven digs; and Caydense Smith made 17 digs and two assists.

Marian won JV 2-1.

Blue Mountain 3, Northwestern Lehigh 0

NEW TRIPOLI — Jaedyn Bartholomew racked up 18 kills, 20 digs and two blocks to lead Blue Mountain past Northwestern Lehigh 26-24, 25-23, 25-16 in a non-league match.

Alexa Marshall added 25 digs, seven aces and six kills, while Bella Grasso contributed 26 assists and nine digs for the Eagles (11-3).

Northwestern Lehigh (9-6) won JV 2-0.

Schuylkill Haven 3, Minersville 0

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Lydia Hartz had 15 assists, four aces and three digs as Schuylkill Haven swept Minersville 25-11, 25-23, 25-23 in a Schuylkill League Division II match.

Hailey Keppley compiled five aces, five digs and four kills, while Grace Line contributed 17 digs and six aces for the Hurricanes (5-8, 4-6 D-II).

For Minersville (2-14, 2-8), Caty Ilsley had eight kills, six digs, four blocks and three aces; Bella Cruz added 15 digs, two kills and two assists; and Arianna John chipped in three aces, two kills and two blocks.

Schuylkill Haven won JV 2-0.

Mahanoy Area 3, Williams Valley 0

MAHANOY CITY — Hailey Mroczka had 11 kills and four digs to spark Mahanoy Area to a 25-12, 25-11, 25-17 win over Williams Valley in a non-league match.

Yehiliana Reyes made 11 digs, and Samantha Price added 21 assists and two kills for the Golden Bears (9-6).

For the Vikings (7-6), Emily Miller posted 17 digs, six aces and two service points. She also reached a career milestone with her 500th dig. Other top players for Williams Valley included Emma Reinoehl with 10 assists, three digs and two kills; Hayley Fenlason chipped in three kills and three digs.

Mahanoy Area won JV 2-1.

Tamaqua 3, Catasauqua 0

CATASAUQUA — Millie Black had eight kills, six digs and three aces as Tamaqua downed Catasauqua 25-12, 25-21, 25-18 in a non-league match.

Leah Black compiled five digs, five kills and four aces for the Blue Raiders (8-9), while Isadora Neifert hit six kills; Kelsey Lusch added five digs and four aces; and Madison Schock posted 20 assists, three aces, two digs and four kills.

The Rough Riders’ record dropped to 1-16.

Tamaqua won JV 2-0.

Pine Grove 3, Executive Education 0

ALLENTOWN — Lily Flynn posted eight kills, 11 aces and one dig to lead Pine Grove over Executive Education Academy Charter 25-11, 25-16, 25-15 in non-league action.

Addison Daubert added four aces, three digs and six assists, while Molly Drumheller notched nine digs, one ace and one assist for the Cardinals (8-7).

Pine Grove won JV 2-0.

Monday’s results

2 Eagles compete at districts

BETHLEHEM — Blue Mountain’s Mary Solga won her first-round match but fell in the quarterfinals of the District 11 Class AA Singles Tournament at Lehigh University.

Seeded eighth, Solga defeated No. 9 Emma Sauvagnargues of Saucon Valley, 6-2, 6-4. Solga then faced No. 1 seed Bernadette Gasser of Allentown Central Catholic, and Gasser advanced to the semifinals with a 6-0, 6-1 win.

Blue Mountain’s Eva Fisher also qualified for districts. She dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision to No. 6 seed Annemarie Andres of Moravian Academy in the round of 16.

The semifinals and finals of the singles tournament will be Wednesday at Lehigh.

The District 11 Doubles Tournament will be held Oct. 7 and 9 at Lehigh University. The District 11 Team Tournament will follow with quarterfinals on Oct. 13, semifinals on Oct. 14 and finals on Oct. 16. In Class AA, Blue Mountain is rated third and Tamaqua is seventh. The top eight teams in each class qualify.
