5 PIAA quarterfinal games to be held at District 11 sites
Williams Valley’s next step in the PIAA football playoffs has the Vikings headed to Lehighton.
The PIAA unveiled the sites and times for next weekend’s state quarterfinals Sunday. The District 11 champion Vikings (12-1) will take on District 12 winner Lansdale Catholic (11-2) at 7 p.m. Friday at Lehighton’s Multi-Purpose Stadium.
Williams Valley is in the PIAA playoffs for the third straight season. The Vikings won their third straight District 11 crown with a 34-31 victory over Schuylkill Haven on Friday at Blue Mountain’s Eagles’ Nest.
It was thought the Vikings would play again this week at Blue Mountain. Instead, the Eagles’ Nest will host a Class 4A quarterfinal between District 11 champion Southern Lehigh and District 4 champion Shamokin.
In addition to Lehighton and Blue Mountain, District 11 schools Northern Lehigh, Whitehall and Bethlehem will also host state quarterfinal games.
Tickets for all PIAA playoff games cost $8 (plus applicable fees) and must be purchased online at www.piaa.org. The Williams Valley-Lansdale Catholic game will be broadcasted live on T-102 (101.9 FM).
