Free-throw shooting lifts Haven by Vikings
FREDERICKSBURG — Alan Evans tallied a game-high 22 points to lead Schuylkill Haven to a 64-57 victory over Northern Lebanon on Monday night in the Hurricanes’ season opener.
Evans shot 13-of-15 from the foul line, including 6-for-6 in the fourth quarter to help Haven ice it. As a team, Haven was 19-for-24 from the stripe.
Max Heim recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Justin Watcher poured in 16 points for the Hurricanes. The Vikings hit 11 3-pointers.

ORWIGSBURG — The Eagles’ Tyeirre Meade paced all scorers with 25 points but Southern Lehigh closed the game with a 17-4 run to spoil Blue Mountain’s season opener.
Beck Henninger added nine points for the Eagles, who were hampered by a 5-for-12 effort at the foul line. Joe Plessi led the Spartans with 21 points.

PINE GROVE — Pine Grove’s Hayden Felty scored a game-high 24 points but Kutztown closed the game on a 17-6 run to hand the Cardinals a heartbreaking non-league defeat.
Felty had 12 of his points in the first half as Pine Grove led 33-15 at intermission. Chris Bergstrom poured in 14 of his team-high 20 points in the second half to spark Kutztown’s comeback.

HELLERTOWN — Terrence McDowell hit a trio of 3-pointers to score a team-high nine points in the Blue Raiders’ non-league loss to the Panthers.
Saucon Valley built an 18-6 lead after one quarter and never looked back, leading 40-24 after three frames.

Riverside 75, Nativity 43
TAYLOR — Sophomore superstar Nico Antoniacci blitzed the Hilltoppers for a game-high 38 points as Riverside used a big run through the middle quarters to spoil Brady Burke’s debut as Nativity’s head coach.
Antoniacci had 55 points in Riverside’s 97-37 rout of Wyoming Valley West in its opener Friday. He had 29 in the middle frames Monday as the Vikings outscored the Toppers 46-15 to take control.
Nick Clarke scored a team-high 15 points and Jake Bowman added 10 for Nativity. Riverside, which went 25-3 last season and reached the PIAA Class 3A quarterfinals, held Nativity sharpshooter Trey Keating to just nine points.
