Hurricane girls sweep Shamokin, Mifflinburg; boys split

COAL TOWNSHIP — Cali Stauffer and Ethan Miller each had big performances as Schuylkill Haven went 3-1 in a non-league boys’ and girls’ swim meet with Mifflinburg and Shamokin on Monday.

Stauffer took the 50-yard freestyle and 100 freestyle and swam on a winning relay for the Schuylkill Haven girls, who beat Shamokin 90-21 and Mifflinburg 84-47. Mikayla Tippett added an individual win in the 100 backstroke for the Hurricanes (2-0).

On the boys’ side, Miller won the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke as Haven downed Shamokin 54-51 but fell to Mifflinburg 69-60. Miller also teamed with Colton McClusky, Bruce Stine and Elliot Wehr to place first in the 200 freestyle relay.
