Blue Mountain swimmers post fast times at Franklin & Marshall’s Diplomat Invitational

LANCASTER — Schuylkill Haven’s Hope Stauffer and Blue Mountain’s Porter Sarnes and Brody Moyer each posted a pair of top five individual finishes at the annual Diplomat Invitational held Saturday, Dec. 20, at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster.

Stauffer was second in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.49, finishing behind Northeastern’s Whiskie Brandt (25.09). She was fifth in the 200 freestyle in 2:04.73.

Blue Mountain’s Alayna Hensel was third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.66, while the Eagles’ 400 freestyle relay team was seventh in 4:02.01.

Blue Mountain finished 11th out of 25 girls’ teams.

On the boys’ side, Sarnes was third in the 500 freestyle in 4:52.90 and fifth in the 200 freestyle in 1:49.70. Moyer took fourth in the 100 backstroke (54.88) and fifth in the 100 butterfly (53.87).

Blue Mountain also fared well in the relays, taking fourth in the 400 freestyle relay, sixth in the 200 freestyle relay and eighth in the 200 medley relay.

Schuylkill Haven’s Ethan Miller was seventh in the 100 butterfly in a season’s best and school-record time of 54.43 seconds. Blue Mountain’s Seth Nester was 10th in the 200 IM in 2:17.30.

The Eagles set area-best season times in seven events en route to a sixth-place finish out of 23 teams.
