During the course of the regular season, one Schuylkill League coach told me that Blue Mountain’s Ryan Clemas was the most technically sound offensive lineman he’s faced.

He wasn’t the only coach who felt that way.

A 6-foot-1, 270-pound junior, Clemas and senior teammate Reese Miller were honored Wednesday by being named to the PAFootballNews.com Coaches Select Class 4A All-State Team.

The PAFootballNews.com Coaches Select All-State teams are chosen through nominations and voting done by 321 coaches state-wide and are broken into first and second teams. This season, the Class 4A All-State squad featured 67 players.

Clemas was named to the second team at offensive guard. He helped pave the way for the Eagles to average 192 yards rushing and 327.8 yards of total offense. Blue Mountain finished 7-5, losing to eventual PIAA Class 4A state champion Southern Lehigh in the District 11 Class 4A semifinals.

The 6-1, 225-pound Miller was named to the second team at middle linebacker.

The Eagles’ defensive leader the past two seasons, he was named to the T102 Sports Now Tremendous 33 Team and was selected as the Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association Big School Defensive Player of the Year after recording 85 tackles, four tackles for loss and six sacks.

Miller also played fullback for the Eagles, rushing for seven touchdowns. He also returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown in the season opener against Schuylkill Haven.

Southern Lehigh tailback Sean Steckert was named Player of the Year and the Spartans’ Phil Sams was chosen as Coach of the Year.
