HS Hoops Roundup: PV’s Orsulak, Wreckers’ McKeegan reach 1,000-point milestones

Two Schuylkill League basketball players scored their 1,000th career point during non-league games Wednesday night.

Panther Valley’s Morgan Orsulak recorded the milestone in the fourth quarter of the Panthers’ 77-50 loss to Allentown Dieruff.

Weatherly’s Ian McKeegan scored his 1,000th point in the Wreckers’ 61-57 victory over Lincoln Leadership.

Williams Valley 47, Tri-Valley 31

HEGINS — Mallory Miller drained three 3-pointers and scored 11 of her 16 points in a 27-point first-quarter outburst as the Vikings downed the Dawgs in a Schuylkill League Division II game.

Quin Smeltz added 13 points for Williams Valley, which won its seventh straight. The Vikings led 40-10 at halftime.

Avery Miller paced Tri-Valley with 15 points while Ava Snyder had 11.

Lourdes 60, Nativity 11

SHAMOKIN — Hannah Lokitis collected 12 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots as the Red Raiders remained unbeaten in league play with a Schuylkill League Division II win over the Golden Girls at the Lee Korbich Gymnasium.

Kylla Sandri paced Lourdes with 18 points, while Onaleigh Barnes added 15. The Red Raiders led 27-1 after one period and 46-6 at halftime.

Finley McNamara led Nativity with five points.

Dieruff 77, Panther Valley 50

ALLENTOWN — Orsulak compiled 18 points and 10 rebounds as the Panthers dropped a non-league contest to Class 6A Dieruff.

The Huskies took control with a 22-7 in the second quarter to take a 39-21 lead at intermission. Dieruff had three players in double figures, led by Jayla Rosario’s 29 points.

Boys’ Basketball

Weatherly 61, Lincoln Leadership 57

WEATHERLY — McKeegan reached the 1,000-point milestone as part of a 24-point effort as the Wreckers outlasted the Lions in a battle of District 11 Class A title contenders.

McKeegan scored eight of his points in the fourth quarter as Weatherly outscored Lincoln Leadership 17-12 in the final frame to erase a pair of deficits.

In a game of runs, Lincoln Leadership led 19-13 after one quarter before the Wreckers used a 19-10 surge in the second quarter to lead 32-29 at the break. The Lions went ahead 45-44 after three periods before the Wreckers rallied late.

McKeegan was 11-of-14 from the foul line as Weatherly went 21-for-30 from the stripe. Matt Adler and Dominick Kokinda each added 10 points for Weatherly.

Robert Baker led all scorers with 31 points for Lincoln Leadership, draining six 3-pointers.
