Ligenza has big night in Blue Raiders’ comeback victory
TAMAQUA — The Schuylkill League Division I girls’ title chase got a little tighter Friday night.
Lauren Ligenza recorded a double-double and Kendle Miller hit a key 3-pointer in overtime as Tamaqua knocked off North Schuylkill 46-43.
The loss is the first in league play for the Spartans (7-4, 6-1 D-I) and drops them into a first-place tie with Schuylkill Haven (9-4, 6-1) at the halfway mark. Tamaqua (10-3, 5-2) moves within one game of the top spot with the victory, with Pine Grove (8-5, 4-3) and Blue Mountain (6-6, 4-3) also in the hunt.
Ligenza finished with 20 points and 15 rebounds as the Blue Raiders overcame an early 12-4 deficit. North Schuylkill led 21-18 at halftime and 32-27 entering the fourth before Tamaqua rallied to force overtime.
Miller opened the extra session with a 3-pointer while Leah Black and Ligenza hit went 1-for-2 from the foul line as the Blue Raiders outscored the Spartans 5-2 in OT.
Millie Black added 13 points for Tamaqua. Mya Conti was the only player in double figures for North Schuylkill with 18 points.

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Kylie Siket paced a balanced attack with 16 points as the Hurricanes downed the Cardinals in a Schuylkill League Division I game at the CACL Center.
Meadow Umbenhauer scored eight of her game-high 22 points in the first quarter for Pine Grove, which led 10-2 after one frame.
The Hurricanes sliced the deficit to 18-16 by halftime, then outscored the Cardinals 33-12 in the second half.
Mckenna Runkle added 10 points for Schuylkill Haven, while Audrey Hutchinson tallied nine and Ava Terefencko eight. The Hurricanes hit six 3-pointers.
