HS Swimming Roundup: Raiders’ Wilson breaks Tamaqua pool record in breaststroke

TAMAQUA — Savannah Wilson broke the Tamaqua pool record in the 100-yard breaststroke as the Blue Raiders soared past Pottsville 114-39 in a Schuylkill League girls’ swimming dual meet Thursday.
Wilson won the event in 1:07.05, which is a season-best time. She added a victory in the 200 IM and swam on two winning relays as Tamaqua (9-2-1, 7-1 SL) set a season-high for points scored.
Shaylee Gormley (200 free, 100 free) added two victories for the Blue Raiders, while Ava Jones (50 free), Audrey Nattress (100 fly) and Kate Behun (500 free) scored individual wins. Tamaqua swept the relays.
Lila Evans (diving) and Gianna Laselva (100 back) notched wins for Pottsville (5-5-1, 3-4-1).

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Tatiana Salefski won two individual events and swam on two inning relays as the Spartans toppled the Golden Bears in a Schuylkill League dual meet.
Salefski won the 200 IM and 100 fly. Kamryn Wolfe (200 free), Annabelle Bennett (diving), Keira Blozousky (500 free) and Katelyn Nahodil (100 breast) added wins for North Schuylkill (6-3-1, 5-3-1).
Lily Brown took first in the 100 free and 100 back for Mahanoy Area (2-7, 2-7), while Urijah Fazio won the 50 free.

TAMAQUA — The Crimson Tide took first in eight events, including a sweep of the relays, to get past the Blue Raiders in a Schuylkill League dual meet.
Jerome Urban (200 free), John Mohl (100 fly), Ashton Maroukis (100 free), Logan Strauss (500 free) and Noah Bevan (100 back) notched individual victories for Pottsville (9-2, 7-1), which stayed one game behind unbeaten Blue Mountain in the boys’ standings.
The Crimson Tide visit Blue Mountain next Tuesday.
Brandon Temarantz took first in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke for Tamaqua (3-9, 3-5).

Fabrizio Mangianello (200 free), David Luna (100 fly), Tyler Heidelbaugh (100 free) and Nicholas Weremedic (100 back) also were victorious for North Schuylkill (6-4, 5-4), which all 11 contested events.
