HS Boys’ Wrestling: Tri-Valley routs Mount Carmel
MOUNT CARMEL — Just over 24 hours since falling to Conwell-Egan in the PIAA Class AA Team Wrestling Championships, Tri-Valley had to take the mat again in non-league action.
Well, the Bulldogs displayed their mental toughness and ability to rebound by traveling to Mount Carmel and blasting the Red Tornadoes 59-9 on Wednesday night.
Tri-Valley (16-5) took 11-of-13 weights, as Garett Leitzel (121), Brock Bossler (127), Liam Yourey (145) and Donovan Keeth (285) posted falls.


Parker Hatter (160) and Hunter Updegrave (172) added back-to-back technical falls for the Dawgs.
Tri-Valley’s Landon Horoschak (139) earned an 18-8 major decision over Bradley Clark, and Max Masser (189) gained a 7-1 decision over Chance Swatski.

Keegan Brown (215) won by fall for Mount Carmel (12-12).

Upper Dauphin 47, Chambersburg 29
GETTYSBURG — Winning eight bouts — all of them with bonus points — No. 6 Upper Dauphin defeated No. 11 Chambersburg in the round of 16 of the District 3 Wrestling Girls’ Team Championships at Gettysburg High School.
The team event is the first of its kind for girls in District 3, and the Trojans made history by notching their first win.
Upper Dauphin (8-0) advanced to the quarterfinals to meet No. 3 seed Gettysburg (15-1), a 54-18 winner over No. 14 Cedar Crest.

Cambrie Herb (100), Layla Smith (112), Jenna Teeter (118), Jada Dillard (124), Lydia Engle (190) and Chloe Ratcliffe (235) scored falls for UDA. Maggie Hoffman-Long (142) added a technical fall, winning 20-4 in 2:30 over Alba Rojas.
Chambersburg’s record dropped to 20-6.

GETTYSBURG — Ava Christianson (190) scored a major decision and Samantha Campbell (100) notched a pin down the stretch to lift No. 3 Gettysburg over No. 6 Upper Dauphin in the quarterfinals of the District 3 Wrestling Girls’ Team Championships at Gettysburg High School.
Gettysburg had four pins and two major decisions in taking eight weights overall.
Layla Smith (118), Jacelyn Henninger (136) and Chloe Ratcliffe (235) won by pin for the Trojans (8-1).
In other quarterfinals, Central Dauphin defeated Boiling Springs 69-0; Camp Hill topped Hempfield 45-30; and Cumberland Valley downed Dallastown 39-33.
The four remaining teams will gather Saturday at Gettysburg, with the semifinals at 11 a.m. and the championship and third-place duals at 1 p.m. The semifinal matchups have No. 1 seed Central Dauphin (17-0) taking on No. 5 Camp Hill (22-2) and No. 10 Cumberland Valley (8-4) meeting No. 3 Gettysburg (16-1).
