HS Boys’ Wrestling: Tide’s McFarland wins William Tennent title, OW

WARMINSTER — Pottsville’s Terrell McFarland turned in another dominant performance to earn the 189-pound championship Saturday at the Panther Invitational, hosted by William Tennent High School.

In the 15-team field, McFarland racked up three pins to make the finals. There, he defeated Germantown Academy’s Jack Breme by technical fall 21-5 in 3:20. For his efforts, McFarland (36-0) received the tournament’s Outstanding Wrestler Award.

As a team, the Crimson Tide had eight wrestlers become placewinners, lifting Pottsville to a fifth-place finish in the team standings. Central Bucks East won the team title with 241.5 points. Norristown took second with 153. Germantown Academy (140), Harry S Truman (138.5) and Pottsville (134.5) rounded out the top five.

Cole Cook (114) also made the finals for the Tide. After two falls, Cook dropped a 1-0 decision to Germantown Academy’s Aidan Lee.

Kaiden Renn went 3-1 to place third at 172 for Pottsville, while teammates Cole Daubert (127), Colin Kline (145) and Jacoby Hay (215) finished fourth. Silas Smith (133) added a seventh and Corbin Evans (152) took eighth for the Tide.
