The Schuylkill League basketball coaches have finalized their All-Area teams, and four players headline this year’s selections after standout seasons in their respective divisions.

In Division I boys, Shazier Bethea made it back-to-back MVP honors after leading Minersville to a historic league season.

Bethea, a senior guard, is the driving force behind the Battlin’ Miners capturing the first league championship in program history, delivering consistent scoring, defensive intensity and leadership throughout the season. Night after night, he set the tone, and when Minersville needed a basket or a stop in big moments, Bethea was usually at the center of it.

Division II boys MVP honors once again went to Trey Keating of Nativity.

Keating, a senior guard, capped another prolific regular season by leading the league in scoring for the fourth consecutive year, averaging around 29 points per game. He connected on more than 90 three-pointers so far this winter, stretching defenses well beyond the arc and continuing to solidify himself as one of the most consistent scorers the league has seen in recent years. His ability to score at all three levels keeps the Hilltoppers competitive every night.

On the girls’ side, junior McKenna Runkle of Schuylkill Haven was voted Division I MVP after serving as the Hurricanes’ offensive leader.

Runkle was a steady scoring presence throughout the season, routinely finishing in double figures and taking on the responsibility of being her team’s go-to option in key situations, culminating in back-to-back league titles for Haven.

In Division II, senior Felicia Bro of Mahanoy Area earned MVP honors following a strong all-around campaign.

Bro has played a central role for the Golden Bears for what feels like year now, contributing as a scorer and playmaker while helping guide her team through a competitive league schedule. Her consistency and impact on both ends of the floor stood out to opposing coaches, as well as her impressive skills facilitating the basketball.

The full All-Area teams, as selected by the league’s coaches, are included with the official graphics below as well. Awards were also given for district categories such as 6th Man (or Woman) of the Year and Freshman of the Year.
