HS Softball: Pottsville rolls past Tamaqua

POTTSVILLE — Peyton Eckert pitched a complete-game three-hitter to lead Pottsville past Tamaqua 7-1 on Wednesday in a Schuylkill League Division I softball game at the CACL Complex.
Eckert struck out two and walked two but got error-free defense behind her.
Jes Siminitus sparked the Crimson Tide offense out of the leadoff spot, going 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and one RBI. Izzy Kunstek also had a big game, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Pottsville scored in five of the six innings it batted, steadily building its lead. Megan Yost went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Cadence Borger and Reese Ketner contributed a single and an RBI apiece.


Ceanna Gormley went 2-for-3 for Tamaqua. Peyton Faust added a single and a run scored; Paige Bumbulsky picked up an RBI.

WYOMISSING — Alli Scherer tossed a complete game and went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple, five runs scored and an RBI as Schuylkill Haven outlasted Wyomissing in an eight-inning, non-league game.



Schuylkill Haven pounded out 19 hits and finally put the game away with a four-run eighth inning. Joie Schoffstall gave the Hurricanes the lead with an RBI double; two runs scored on an error on Aisley Jenan’s sacrifice bunt; and Lexi Mull followed with an RBI double.
Schoffstall finished 3-for-5 with three doubles, three runs and two RBIs; Jenan went 3-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and two runs; and Mull posted a 3-for-5 day with a double, a triple, two RBIs and a run scored.
