Eagles headline the day, Spartans nip Toppers; Cardinals, Panthers add wins as several league teams fall in jam-packed non-league weekend
ORWIGSBURG — It took a little bit of everything, and just enough at the right time.
Blue Mountain split a tie ballgame open in the fifth inning and made it stand, edging Whitehall 2-1 in a tightly played non-league contest Saturday at Allen Greenawalt Field.
The Eagles got on the board in the first on a sacrifice fly from Aiden Finn before the Zephyrs answered in the fourth on an RBI single from Chase Miller to even things at 1-1.
Blue Mountain regained the lead in the fifth on a squeeze-bunt, fielder’s choice by Cohen Kirby, and the pitching took over from there.
Frankie Russo worked the first four innings before Ryan Clemas shut the door with three scoreless frames to earn the win.
Sonny Amato led Blue Mountain with two hits, while Tyler Sanders and Callen Nicklas each had two hits for Whitehall.

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Mark Monahan delivered a complete-game effort on the mound as North Schuylkill narrowly defeated Nativity in a non-league matchup at Robert Wetzel Field.
Monahan scattered eight hits and allowed just one run over seven innings, while also contributing an RBI at the plate. Stephen Minahan added two hits to pace the Spartans’ offense.
North Schuylkill broke through in the fifth inning and added another run in the sixth, which proved to be enough in a tightly contested game.
The Hilltoppers finished with eight hits, led by multi-hit efforts from Marc Lutzkanin, Ryan Examitas and Tommy Bartashus. Trey Keating added a double for the Toppers.

PINE GROVE — Ian Brown led the way with two hits and two RBIs as Pine Grove pulled away from Brandywine Heights in a non-league game under the lights at Stump Stadium.
The Cardinals jumped out early with three runs in the first and added on in the third to build a comfortable lead.
Dane Hannevig added a triple, while Pine Grove took advantage of patience at the plate and aggressive baserunning to keep pressure on throughout.
Brandywine Heights scored four runs in the middle innings, but Pine Grove’s pitching settled in, with Robert Miller earning the win and the bullpen closing it out.

EAST STROUDSBURG — Brody Breiner and Gavin Yuricheck combined on a shutout as Panther Valley blanked Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg in a non-league game on the road.
Breiner set the tone, tossing six-plus scoreless innings while striking out six before handing it off to Yuricheck to finish the job.
The Panthers broke through in the sixth and then erupted for six runs in the seventh, highlighted by a bases-clearing triple from Danny Wehr and a two-run double by Kaden Koerbler.
Koerbler finished with two hits, while Wehr drove in three runs.

The Wildcats struck early with a five-run first inning and never trailed, putting the Dawgs in an early hole.
Tri-Valley responded with runs in the first and fourth but couldn’t string together enough offense to complete the comeback.
Jack Wehry, Schley and Jaxon Bruso each collected two hits for the Dawgs, who finished with eight hits in the loss.

Maley led the offense with two hits, while Alan Evans and Chase Yoder each drove in a run in the loss.

Shenandoah Valley managed just four hits and committed four errors, which proved costly in the shortened game.
Lajara led the offense with an RBI-single and a double, while Dylan Getz added an RBI in the loss.

Yenser gave the Blue Raiders an early lead with a solo shot on the third pitch of the game in the first inning, but the Cavaliers answered immediately and continued to build its advantage with multi-run innings.
East Stroudsburg South broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning, pulling away to end it early. Jacob Markowski paced East Stroudsburg South with three hits and four RBIs.
Landon Kamant led Tamaqua with two hits, while Yenser added an RBI.
