Tide flows with Rynard, Colts wins in 13; Golden Bears bats break out in Division II victory

HEGINS — Pottsville leaned on strong pitching and timely hitting to take control early.

The Crimson Tide downed Tri-Valley 4-1 in a Schuylkill League Division I game, using a steady effort on the mound and clutch hits to build a lead and hold it Wednesday at Edwin H. Ziegler Field.

Dom Rynard led the campaign in a big way.

Rynard, a junior, went 3-for-4 with a double while also earning the win on the mound. The junior struck out 11 over six innings, limiting Tri-Valley’s chances throughout. Brody Eroh added an RBI as Pottsville capitalized on early opportunities.

Max Clews, Brody Hess and Harrison Ciavarella singled for the Tide. Hess earned the save in relief.

The Dawgs got a solid outing from Braeden Doyle, who struck out nine over nearly seven innings, but defensive miscues proved costly. Peyton Schley drove in the Bulldogs’ lone run, while Jason Stewart, Gavin Klock, Owen Miller and Jaxon Bruso each had a hit.

The decisive swing came in the 13th inning when Marian scored five runs, highlighted by a bases-loaded hit from Chase Grier. Minersville rallied with four runs in the bottom half but came up just short.
