Blue Raiders rally late; Colts slug past Pirates; Dawgs erupt early; Spartans, Tide cruise while Mahanoy Area falls

TAMAQUA — Jake Yenser delivered the swing that finally broke it open in a back-and-forth battle.

Yenser’s go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth inning lifted Tamaqua to a 5-3 victory over Lehighton in a non-league baseball game Saturday at Tamaqua.

The Blue Raiders gradually worked its way back, cutting into the deficit before drawing even in the fifth inning when Gavin Shannon doubled and Gavin Edmonds followed with an RBI single.

With the game tied entering the sixth, Yenser stepped up and delivered the decisive blow, sending a two-run shot to left to give Tamaqua its first lead of the day. Yenser finished with two hits and two RBIs, while Landon Kamant also added two hits as the Raiders totaled seven.

Jayden Rex was strong in relief to earn the win, allowing just one unearned run over 5.1 innings, while Gaven Hess closed it out to secure the save.

Lehighton finished with six hits, getting one apiece from Jayse Lawrence, Llewellyn, Logan Bellis, Konner Nalesnik, Aiden Solt and Cash White, but was unable to regain the lead after Yenser’s homer.
