HS Softball: Pottsville drops extra-inning game to Fleetwood

FLEETWOOD — Cadence Borger had a big day at the plate for Pottsville, but the Crimson Tide fell to Fleetwood 8-7 in eight innings Wednesday in a non-league softball game.
Borger went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI for Pottsville, which built a 6-0 lead after 3 and a half innings.
Fleetwood rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie, then won it with a run in the eighth.
Reese Ketner, Peyton Eckert and Jo Barnhart added two hits apiece for the Tide. One of Eckert’s hits was a double.


Eckert went the distance in the circle for Pottsville and allowed four earned runs. She struck out one and walked none.
Sophia Breidegam pitched eight innings for Fleetwood, striking out eight and walking five. Breidegam threw a whopping 170 pitches, 101 for strikes.
Blair Rauenzahn sparked the Tigers’ offense by going 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Kaitlyn Yapsuga added two hits, two runs and one RBI.
