FLEETWOOD — Pottsville dropped a tight one on the road.
Fleetwood used a pair of big innings in the middle frames to slip past the Crimson Tide 4-3 in a non-league contest Wednesday.
Pottsville struck first with a run in the fourth inning, but the Tigers answered with two runs in the bottom half and added two more in the fifth to take control. The Tide chipped away with runs in the sixth and seventh, but couldn’t complete the comeback.
Pottsville finished with seven hits, getting one each from Brody Eroh, Dom Rynard, Max Clews, Brody Hess, Harrison Ciavarella, Danny Markus and Christian Alvarez. Ciavarella added a double.
Fleetwood totaled nine hits, led by T.J. Kleppinger with three and Chase Adams with two, including a home run.
Landon Trout started on the mound for Pottsville and struck out seven before being relieved by Hess in the fourth inning. Hess added four strikeouts over three innings.
