FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — North Schuylkill set the tone and never let Tri-Valley settle in.

The Spartans jumped out early and pulled away to defeat the Dawgs 6-1 in a Schuylkill League Division I contest Tuesday at Robert Wetzel Field.

North Schuylkill struck first in the opening inning when Kole Rollenhagen delivered a two-run double. North Schuylkill added to its lead in the third on a fielder’s choice by Hunter Rogers and broke the game open with three more runs in the fourth.

Chase Slotcavage earned the win on the mound, allowing one run on three hits over six innings while striking out nine. Rogers worked a scoreless seventh in relief.

North Schuylkill finished with seven hits, with Slotcavage leading the way with two and driving in three runs.

Tri-Valley totaled four hits, with Braeden Doyle, Gavin Klock, Peyton Schley and Gavin Scheib each collecting one. Klock drove in the Dawgs’ lone run.

Williams Valley 9, Marian 7, 8 innings

HOMETOWN — Williams Valley overcame a five-run deficit by scoring seven runs in the top of the seventh inning, then prevailed in eight innings to claim a Schuylkill League Division II victory over the Colts.

The Colts built a five-run lead with a strong middle-innings push, highlighted by a two-run homer from Jonathan Derr. After Williams Valley rallied to go up 7-5 in the seventh, Marian answered with two runs in the bottom half to force extra innings.

In the eighth, John Rautzahn delivered an RBI double and Cayden Witmer added an RBI single to give the Vikings the lead for good. Freshman Chevy Green then pitched out of trouble in the bottom of the eighth to seal the victory.

Derr and Jimmy Cannon led Marian with two hits each, while Derr drove in three runs. Williams Valley finished with 10 hits, with Rautzahn, Fletcher Thompson and Cam Berger collecting two apiece.

ORWIGSBURG — Blue Mountain broke it open early and rolled past Panther Valley in six innings in a Division I contest at Allen Greenawalt Field.

The Eagles scored in each of the first three innings before putting the game away with a five-run sixth. Frankie Russo earned the win, allowing two hits over five scoreless innings. Tyler Bensinger added a scoreless inning in relief.

Blue Mountain finished with six hits, with Riley Sebastian, Brady Strause, Cohen Kirby, Connor Huben, Evan Setlock and Josh Hoover each collecting one. Hoover tripled, while Strause, Huben, Kirby and Sebastian doubled.

Panther Valley managed two hits from Danny Wehr and Spencer Shirer.

SHENANDOAH — Shenandoah Valley cruised past Weatherly in five innings in a Division II matchup.

The Blue Devils jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and added three more in the third before erupting for seven runs in the fourth to put the game away. Haden Kechula earned the win, allowing one hit over five scoreless innings while striking out eight.

Shenandoah Valley finished with eight hits, with Gene Sinkus and Gabriel Saba collecting two apiece. Dylan Getz drove in three runs.

Weatherly’s lone hit came from Raymond Montz.
