Blue Mountain, Shenandoah Valley shine; Pine Grove falls in extras
HEGINS — Gavin Klock and Stephen Minahan matched zeros for much of the afternoon in a tight pitcher’s duel.
Tri-Valley broke through in the third inning and made it stand, defeating North Schuylkill 3-0 in a Schuylkill League Division I baseball game Thursday at Edwin H. Ziegler Field.
Klock went the distance for the Dawgs, keeping the Spartans off the scoreboard while scattering four hits. He worked efficiently throughout, getting key outs and benefiting from solid defense behind him, including two double plays.
The game’s only runs came in the third. Tri-Valley capitalized on a North Schuylkill error to get on the board, then Jason Stewart delivered an RBI single and Braeden Doyle added a run-scoring groundout to make it 3-0.
Minahan was strong in the loss, allowing just six hits and three runs — all unearned — over six innings while working around four walks.
Jack Wehry, Stewart, Doyle, Klock, Peyton Schley and Jaxon Bruso each had a hit for Tri-Valley.
For North Schuylkill, Dylan Cairo led the way with two hits, while Landen Smith and Seth Hubler added one apiece.
