HS Softball: Tri-Valley knocks off Pottsville

POTTSVILLE — Alina Leonard pitched 3.2 innings of shutout relief to lock down Tri-Valley’s 7-2 victory over Pottsville in a non-league game Monday at the CACL Complex.
Leonard allowed two hits, struck out seven and walked none.
The contest was the completion of a game suspended by rain on March 20.

Tri-Valley led 2-1 after two innings when the game was stopped. Myah Schwalm had a two-run double for the Dawgs; Cadence Borger delivered a sacrifice fly for the Crimson Tide.
Pottsville tied the game 2-2 in the third inning when Peyton Eckert roped an RBI double into the left-field corner. Eckert finished the game 3-for-4.
Tri-Valley took advantage of three errors to score four runs in the top of the fourth inning. Savanah Stiely (2-for-4), Lydia Rodichok and Liv Lupole singled and scored a run during the rally.

Pottsville loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the fourth, bringing Leonard on in relief. The sophomore right-hander retired the Tide on a popout and a lineout to work out of the jam.
Liv Witmer went 2-for-4 with a run scored for Tri-Valley.
Izzy Kunstek finished 2-for-3 with a double for the Tide.

MANDATA — Liv Hand pitched a one-hit shutout to lead Williams Valley to a non-league victory over Line Mountain. Hand struck out six and walked three. At the plate, she doubled and drove in two runs.


Quin Smeltz had a triple and an RBI, while Avery Stakem added a single and three RBIs for the Vikings. Megan Perhach singled and drove in a pair of runs.
Williams Valley pulled away with three five-run innings.

MAHANOY CITY — Cadance Poslosky tossed a two-hitter, striking out 10 and walking three, as Mahanoy Area defeated Shenandoah Valley in non-league action.


Lilly Carl doubled and scored three runs to pace the Golden Bears’ offense. Allison Killian added a single and two RBIs, while Callie Zubris singled and knocked in two runs.
A seven-run first inning gave Mahanoy Area control of the game.
