Nativity stays unbeaten in Division II with pair of victories
The Schuylkill League girls’ track and field dual-meet season will end with a pair of battles for division championships.
In Division I, Blue Mountain and Minersville will take perfect 4-0 league marks into their showdown next Tuesday at Minersville. The Eagles stayed unbeaten Tuesday with a 127-23 rout of Tamaqua, while the Miners used a strong effort in the field to upend North Schuylkill 91-59.
In Division II, Nativity is the lone unbeaten squad after the Green Wave notched a pair of wins Tuesday as part of a quad meet at Pottsville’s Veterans Stadium. Nativity improved to 5-0 in league play with wins over Panther Valley and Marian.
The Green Wave will look to clinch the Division II title next Tuesday at Mahanoy Area, which suffered its first league defeat Tuesday at Schuylkill Haven. The Hurricanes’ 83-58 over the Bears left both squads at 4-1.
If Nativity wins next Tuesday, it claims the title. If Mahanoy Area wins and Schuylkill Haven downs Shenandoah Valley, there will be a three-way tie.
