HS Softball: Spartans slug way past Lourdes
FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Jordanna Frie went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored to lead North Schuylkill past Lourdes 16-1 in a Schuylkill League Division I softball game Wednesday at Dot Seidel Field. Frie’s home run was her fourth of the season.
Lourdes was scheduled to host the game, but the contest was moved to North Schuylkill’s artificial surface to get the game in on a rainy day.
The Spartans clubbed 15 hits in the four-inning game, as Gianna Capone went 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored, and Olivia Jones finished 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs. Capone has hit six home runs this season.


Other top hitters for North Schuylkill included Brigid Flynn, 2-for-3 with three runs scored; Monica Selgrade, 1-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs and a run scored; and Katelyn Nahodil, 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Peyton Miscannon pitched two shutout innings to pick up the win in the circle. She allowed no hits while striking out four and walking none.
Jones hurled two innings in relief, giving up one run on two hits while striking out five and walking none.
For Lourdes, Arianna Adams singled and scored a run; Reaghan Fuller singled and had her team’s RBI.
