ORWIGSBURG — Braedan Doyle has been an anchor for the Tri-Valley pitching staff all season long.
Doyle fired six scoreless innings and the Dawgs scratched out two runs in the fifth to blank Shenandoah Valley 2-0 in a District 11 Class 2A semifinal Sunday afternoon at Blue Mountain’s Allen Greenawalt Field.
Doyle, a junior, is unbeaten on the rubber this season, earning his eighth pitching victory of the season Sunday for the Dawgs (18-6).

A right-hander, Doyle held the Blue Devils to just two hits, walked one and struck out three to earn the win. Gavin Klock pitched a perfect seventh for the save.
Scoreless through four, Tri-Valley broke through in the bottom of the fifth. RBI singles by Owen Miller and Parker Hatter put the Dawgs in front. Jason Stewart scored on a sharp two-out knock to center field by Miller, who later came home on a Texas Leaguer to right to make it 2-0.
Miller went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Gavin Scheib also finished 2-for-2, and Tri-Valley played error-free defense behind Doyle in the field.
Brayden Maksimik took the loss for Shenandoah Valley (14-8), allowing six hits and two earned runs in five innings, walking five and striking out seven. Maksimik, a senior, finished his final spring season with five wins and three losses as a pitcher. He posted a lofty .448 batting average to go with 16 RBIs and 10 doubles.
Chase McCole pitched a scoreless sixth, while Brandon Boris and Maksimik had the only hits for the Blue Devils, who stranded four runners.
For Shenandoah Valley under first-year skipper Frank McCole, the Blue Devils finish with appearances in the Schuylkill League quarterfinals and D-11 Class AA semis.
