HS Soccer: Blue Mountain wins girls’ soccer clash at Pine Grove

Blue Mountain 1, Pine Grove 0
PINE GROVE — Gianna Chipriano’s first-half goal and strong defense lifted Blue Mountain to a Schuylkill League Division I victory over Pine Grove on Thursday at Cardinal Stadium.
In the 32nd minute, Chipriano scored off an assist from Lexi Waschko.
Goalkeeper Karley Koch and the Eagles’ defense made that goal stand up. Pine Grove (1-1, 1-1 D-I) managed just one shot on goal, and Koch made the save. Blue Mountain (2-0, 2-0) outshot the Cardinals 7-1 and held a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.




North Schuylkill 2, Tamaqua 0
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Alyzza Rockwell and Mylee Bindie scored a goal apiece as North Schuylkill shut out Tamaqua in a Division I match.
Rockwell scored at 7:02 of the first half, and Bindie netted her insurance goal at 51:11 for the Spartans (1-2, 1-1 D-I). Abby Smith assisted on both goals.
Keira Wengrenovich made six saves to record the shutout. Ceanna Gormley made 19 saves for Tamaqua (1-1, 0-1). North Schuylkill outshot Tamaqua 18-6 and led 3-2 in corner kicks.
Schuylkill Haven 10, Williams Valley 0
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Taylor Haag notched four goals and three assists to lead Schuylkill Haven to a Division II victory over Williams Valley.
Ava Terefencko added two goals and two assists for the Hurricanes (2-0, 2-0 D-II). Kylie Siket, Audrey Hutchinson and Kelly Ulsh chipped in one goal and one assist apiece.
Ally Becker made one save to gain the shutout in goal. Avery Stakem made seven saves for Williams Valley (0-3, 0-1).
Thursday’s boys’ soccer results
Tri-Valley 3, Pottsville 2
POTTSVILLE — Nathan Hillard scored two goals as Tri-Valley held off Pottsville for a non-league victory.
Tyler Mowery, assisted by Cash Lucas, also scored for the Bulldogs (2-1).
Juan Moreno and William Davis netted one goal apiece for the Crimson Tide (1-1).
Brayden Leese made 12 saves for Tri-Valley, and Landon Trout stopped six shots for Pottsville.
All five goals were scored in the second half.
