HS Football: Smith’s 3 TDs carry Blue Mountain by Bangor

BANGOR — Carter Smith’s breakout night got Blue Mountain back on the winning track Friday night.
The senior running back scored the first three touchdowns of his varsity career as the Eagles rolled past Bangor 35-0 in a Schuylkill-Colonial Red Division game at Bangor Park.
Smith scored on runs of 10 and 12 yards in the first quarter as Blue Mountain (2-3, 2-2 Red) quickly broke out to a 14-0 lead. The Eagles led 28-0 at intermission after Brody Foose scored twice on runs of 21 and 8 yards.
Blue Mountain’s final score came on a 65-yard run by Smith. Josh Hoover booted all five extra points for the Eagles.
Smith had entered Friday night’s game having run the ball 22 times for only 97 yards.
Blue Mountain returns home next week to host Palisades in a Red Division/White Division crossover game. The Pirates enter today’s game at Pen Argyl unbeaten at 4-0.
Bangor drops to 0-5, 0-4 in Red Division play.
