GIRLS

Pottsville 4, North Schuylkill 0

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS — Riley Davis scored a pair of goals to lead Pottsville past North Schuylkill on Thursday in a Schuylkill League Division I girls’ soccer match. With the win, the Crimson Tide clinched a Schuylkill League playoff berth.

Jes Siminitus, assisted by Emma Quirin-Morris, scored at 11:02 as the Tide led 1-0 at halftime.

Karlee Kalovcak doubled the lead to 2-0 with an unassisted goal at 63:21, and just 59 seconds later, Davis scored off an assist from Megan Goodman. Davis, assisted by Bella Wright, converted at 70:27 for Pottsville (8-7, 8-2 D-I).

Pottsville outshot North Schuylkill 18-0. Julie Stock gained the shutout in goal; Mia McDonald stopped 14 shots for the Spartans (5-10-1, 5-5-1).

Minersville 2, Weatherly 0

MINERSVILLE — Danica Gill and Emily Yoder scored one goal apiece as Minersville shut out Weatherly in a Division II match. The Battlin’ Miners clinched a Schuylkill League playoff berth with the win.

Bella Rizzardi made one save in goal for the Miners (11-2-2, 6-1-1 D-II). Kayla Kennedy stopped 22 shots for the Wreckers (3-10, 0-8).

Schuylkill Haven 8, Lourdes 0

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — Taylor Haag netted six goals to power Schuylkill Haven to a Division II victory over Lourdes.

Audrey Hutchinson scored the other two goals for the Hurricanes (9-4-1, 7-0-1 D-II), while Ava Terefencko and Kylie Siket each picked up two assists.

Ally Becker made two saves to earn the shutout in goal for Schuylkill Haven. Sierra Balonis stopped 10 shots for Lourdes (3-12, 2-6).

Tri-Valley 4, Williams Valley 2

HEGINS — Maggie Hoffman-Long had three goals and one assist to lead Tri-Valley to a Division II victory over Williams Valley.

Liv Horoschak netted the other goal for the Bulldogs (6-9, 4-4 D-II). Kiara Smeltz added two assists for Tri-Valley.

Megan Perhach scored one goal for the Vikings (6-9, 4-4).

Sophia Holt made two saves for the Dawgs. Perhach (3 saves) and Avery Stakem (1 save) played in goal for Williams Valley.

Blue Mountain 9, Marian 0

HOMETOWN — Lexi Waschko notched two goals and one assist as Blue Mountain cruised past Marian in a Division I match.

Kelly Canfield added one goal and two assists, while Kyleigh Batory contributed one goal and one assist for the Eagles (13-2, 11-0 D-I). Reegan Spangler, Ella Smith, Caitlyn McGhee, Ella Zelinsky and Ada Kenitzer scored one goal apiece.

Marian fell to 1-13 overall, 0-10 in Division I.

Karley Koch and Emmerson Frie shared the shutout in goal for the Eagles.

Tamaqua 6, Shenandoah Valley 2

SHENANDOAH — Katie Fredericks scored three goals to lead Tamaqua to a Division I win over Shenandoah Valley.

Gianna Donovan gave the Blue Devils (4-8, 2-8 D-I) a 1-0 lead at 8:10, but Gabby Chistakoff, assisted by Sophia Sitlinger, and Fredericks answered to put the Blue Raiders ahead 2-1 at halftime.

Fredericks netted two goals in the second half, with Shaylee Gormley and Sitlinger notching one apiece for Tamaqua (6-8, 4-6). Kayci McGowan scored Shenandoah Valley’s second goal.

Ceanna Gormley made 11 saves in goal for Tamaqua; Emilee Pinkey stopped 21 shots for the Blue Devils. Tamaqua led 25-9 in shots and 11-1 in corner kicks.

In other action, Berks Catholic posted a 2-0, non-league victory over Pine Grove.

BOYS

Blue Mountain 3, Lourdes 0

ORWIGSBURG — Aidan Varney netted two goals to propel Blue Mountain to a Division I victory over Lourdes at the Eagles’ Nest.

After a scoreless first half, Aidan Varney converted off assists from Blake Batory and Drew Watchko. Keenan Hall scored the third goal for Blue Mountain (14-3, 11-0 D-I).

Caden Wargo did not have to make a save to record the shutout in goal. Nathan Yablonski made 16 saves for the Red Raiders (8-8, 6-5).

Blue Mountain won the JV match 4-0.

Tri-Valley 8, Williams Valley 1

WILLIAMSTOWN — Nate Hillard scored six goals to power Tri-Valley to a Division II victory over Williams Valley.

Dalton Leitzel and Cash Lucas added single goals for the Bulldogs (10-5, 7-2 D-II). Both goals came on penalty kicks.

John Rautzahn, assisted by Ethan Lebo, scored one goal for the Vikings (2-13, 2-7).

Brayden Leese made four saves for Tri-Valley; Xzavion Tennis stopped 24 shots for Williams Valley.

Minersville 3, Lehighton 1

LEHIGHTON — Chase Zimerofsky netted a pair of goals to lift Minersville over Lehighton in a non-league match.

Jordan Bowers added one goal and one assist for the Miners (13-3), who have won eight straight matches.

After a scoreless first half, Minersville built a 3-0 lead before Konner Nalesnik scored for Lehighton (1-14).

Dylan Haslam made eight saves for the Miners; C.J. Strohl stopped eight shots for the Indians.

In other non-league matches, Tamaqua defeated Schuylkill Haven 4-1, and Weatherly rolled past Lincoln Leadership 11-1 for the Wreckers’ first win of the season.
