GIRLS’ SOCCER

Pottsville 3, Tamaqua 0

TAMAQUA — Megan Goodman notched one goal and one assist to power Pottsville past Tamaqua on Monday in a Schuylkill League Division I girls’ soccer match.

Goodman, assisted by Riley Davis, got the Crimson Tide (9-7, 9-2 D-I) on the board at 19:29, a 1-0 lead they took to halftime.

After intermission, Bella Wright, assisted by Ella Huda, doubled Pottsville’s lead to 2-0 at 59:04. At 74:58, Emily Steidle, assisted by Goodman, found the back of the net for the Tide.

Pottsville (9-7, 9-2 D-I) outshot Tamaqua 17-3.

Julie Stock made three saves to earn the shutout in goal for the Tide. Ceanna Gormley stopped 14 shots for the Blue Raiders (7-9, 4-7).

Schuylkill Haven 4, Tri-Valley 0

HEGINS — Taylor Haag had three goals and one assist to lead Schuylkill Haven past Tri-Valley in a Division II match.

With the win, the Hurricanes (10-4-1, 8-0-1 D-II) clinched the Division II title.

Audrey Hutchinson scored Schuylkill Haven’s other goal, and Aubrey Wade picked up one assist.

Ally Becker made six saves to record the shutout in goal for the Hurricanes. Sophia Holt stopped 16 shots for Tri-Valley (7-10, 4-5).

In other girls’ matches, North Schuylkill and Shenandoah Valley played to a 1-1 draw; and Williams Valley doubled up Lourdes 4-2.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Tamaqua 10, Marian 0

HOMETOWN — Matt Giuliano, Lusvin Lumas and Jakin Tamagini scored two goals apiece to lead Tamaqua to a Division I victory over Marian.

Chase Behr, Zachary Hartzell, J.J. Kovatch and Luis Tejada Garcia added single goals for the Blue Raiders (4-11, 3-7 D-I).

Tamagini (3 saves) and Kovatch (0 saves) combined on the shutout in goal for Tamaqua. Damien Gall stopped 14 shots for the Colts (2-13, 0-9).

Shenandoah Valley 13, Weatherly 0

WEATHERLY — Antonio Ruiz netted two goals and dished out four assists as Shenandoah Valley overwhelmed Weatherly in a Division II match.

Armando Porfirio added two goals and two assists for the Blue Devils (10-7, 7-2 D-II), who led 7-0 at halftime. Logan Ogozalek had one goal and one assist for Shenandoah Valley. Jonathan Zamudio, Anders Ryan, Jostin Lajara, Joswal Lajara, Josh O’Toole, Carlos Meza, Oscar Arevalo and Peter Flores tallied single goals for the Devils.

Noah Mayernick made nine saves for Weatherly (1-14, 0-9).

In another boys’ match, North Schuylkill shut out Lehighton 5-0.
