MAHANOY CITY — Felicia Bro etched her name among the Mahanoy Area girls’ basketball greats by scoring her 1,000th career point in Wednesday’s 65-47 non-league victory over Panther Valley at the Joe Alansky Gymnasium.
Bro finished with a game-high 28 points, draining five 3-pointers and shooting 7-for-8 from the foul line. Ella Connolly added 22 points as the Bears opened the game with a 17-6 run and led by 19 points after three frames.
Ajete Gjoca led Panther Valley with 11 points while Caroline Breslin tallied 10 points and Morgan Orsulak had nine points and 12 rebounds.

Shazier Bethea powered the Miners with 26 points, Jordan Bowers added 21, Chase Zimerofsky scored 13 and Nolan Plesnarski knocked down a trio of 3-pointers on his way to nine points.
Shenandoah Valley was led by Niko White (18 points) and Izayah Lopez (17 points), but the Blue Devils couldn’t match Minersville’s second-half surge.
